Job description
The District Technology Specialist provides advanced technical support, systems administration, and project leadership for district technology systems. This role is responsible for resolving complex tasks, issues escalated from front-line (Tier 1) support, maintaining and improving critical systems, leading and participating in technology projects, and ensuring reliable, secure, and effective technology services across the district while ensuring a positive support experience., 1. Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for issues within assigned system-defined roles and operational platforms supporting district devices, accounts, peripherals, classrooms, and related technologies.
- Serve as the escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by front-line (tier 1) support staff
- Provide in-person and remote assistance following established procedures and documentation within assigned system-defined roles and operational platforms
- Document all work in the district's ticketing and asset management systems, logging technical requests, solutions, and account for time and resolution of work
- Administer, configure, and maintain district technology platforms and systems
- Own the reliability, security, and performance of assigned systems and services
- Perform advanced troubleshooting including root cause analysis of complex or systemic issues
- Lead and implement technology projects including system upgrades, migrations, and new equipment and platform deployments
- Design and maintain system configurations, standards, and documentation
- Work with vendors and service providers on support, integration, and project delivery
- Support Tier 1 staff and develop procedures and escalation standards
- Monitor system health and proactively address risks and performance issues
- Ensure systems comply with applicable federal and state data privacy and cybersecurity laws, district policies, and recognized industry standards for security, reliability, and business continuity
- Support classroom and other technologies such as phones, displays, printers, audio systems, and other peripherals
- Collaborate with leadership to plan technology improvements and roadmap initiatives
- Collaborate on joint technical projects
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of networking and server infrastructure
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology or designee
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Typical office conditions: sitting, bending, stooping, filing, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds of office supplies/files. Close vision at or correctable to normal range.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred
- Three or more years of experience in technology support, systems administration, or a similar role
- Strong technical background supporting Windows, Apple, ChromeOS, Google Workspace, and related enterprise systems
- Experience with device management, identity systems, VoIP, networking, and/or infrastructure platforms, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
- Ability to work independently, manage projects, and prioritize competing demands
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to security, privacy, and data integrity
