- Architect, deploy, and maintain Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix ADC (NetScaler), Citrix Cloud services, StoreFront or Workspace integration, and related components for resilient application and desktop delivery.
- Diagnose and remediate complex performance issues including ICA latency, HDX/EDT protocol behavior, profile and FSLogix/container issues, session reliability, and application publishing conflicts; tune Workspace Environment Management (WEM) policies for logon optimization and resource management.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of Citrix and dependent services.
Infrastructure and cloud operations
- Deliver hybrid infrastructure services across on-premises and cloud (Azure/AWS) aligned to organizational standards.
- Administer VMware vSphere including clusters, host optimization, resource pools, and virtual networking for Citrix workloads.
- Oversee SAN/NAS provisioning, replication, and performance tuning for session hosts and user data patterns.
- Support enterprise backup and recovery platforms (for example Veritas, Commvault, Rubrik) for Citrix and infrastructure targets.
Service optimization and cost management
- Evaluate and optimize resource utilization across on-premises and cloud platforms.
- Implement cloud governance strategies for spending and workload lifecycle.
- Recommend cost-saving strategies for compute, storage, and cloud consumption.
- Analyze trends and propose improvements to service efficiency and availability.
Security, compliance, and risk management
- Maintain compliance with organizational, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Implement patch management strategies across Citrix, virtualization, and operating systems.
- Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities across on-premises and cloud workloads.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity on secure architecture, endpoint protection, and threat mitigation.
- Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
Technical leadership and support
- Serve as subject matter expert for Citrix and related infrastructure technologies.
- Provide Tier 3/4 support for critical incidents and complex technical issues.
- Mentor junior staff and shape best practices across IT operations.
- Lead infrastructure projects, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
Performance monitoring, capacity, and documentation
- Monitor health and performance across Citrix, VMware, storage, and cloud platforms.
- Analyze usage trends to forecast capacity and plan scaling.
- Implement observability for proactive detection and clear escalation paths.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, dashboards, and stakeholder-ready RCAs.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborate with application teams, security, network engineers, and business units.
- Participate in architectural reviews with actionable recommendations.
- Communicate impact and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Align infrastructure strategies with organizational goals and future-state architecture.
Leveraging AI for Citrix and digital workspace operations Citrix environments generate rich telemetry-logon durations, ICA round-trip times, ADC traffic patterns, Director event streams-and AI can turn that signal into structured diagnostic hypotheses faster than any manual process. We use enterprise-approved tooling to compress time-to-root-cause, while engineers stay accountable for every change and customer outcome.
- Use approved tooling to cluster Director or monitoring events into timelines and probable causes; validate with packet captures, ADC traces, and controlled tests before change.
- Draft runbooks for common failure modes (StoreFront misroutes, broker overload, profile corruption, certificate expiry) for SME review and controlled publication.
- Apply coding assistants to accelerate PowerShell, Citrix automation SDK usage, and API integrations with peer review and no secrets in prompts.
- Summarize post-incident narratives and customer communications from structured notes; ensure factual accuracy and redact sensitive data.
- Explore vendor-supported or enterprise AIOps features for noisy alert reduction alongside traditional synthetic monitoring and capacity baselines.
Requirements
- 5-8+ years supporting enterprise IT infrastructure in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
- Hands-on Citrix experience across installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, resource pools, and virtual networking.
- Knowledge of identity and access management (Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD).
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing).
- Experience with patching, vulnerability remediation, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery systems and best practices.
Expert skills
- Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Cloud, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), StoreFront, and Workspace Environment Management.
- Troubleshooting complex Citrix performance issues including ICA latency, profiles, and application delivery.
- Hybrid cloud integration and workload migration, including Citrix DaaS / cloud-hosted delivery models and working awareness of Azure Virtual Desktop as an adjacent technology landscape.
- Automation and scripting: PowerShell, Citrix SDKs, API integrations.
- Enterprise security controls across virtual and cloud environments.
Advanced skills
- Azure or AWS cloud services: compute, networking, identity, storage.
- Enterprise storage provisioning, replication (for example SRDF, SnapMirror), and performance tuning.
- Monitoring tools such as Citrix Director, ControlUp, vRealize, SolarWinds, Azure Monitor.
- Documentation, diagrams, and architectural standardization at enterprise quality.
- ITIL-aligned service management: incident, problem, and change practices.
- Familiarity with approved AI assistants for log summarization and automation scaffolding is a plus.
