- Preparing, instructing, and grading class coursework;
- Assigning final grades;
- Tutoring and maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students;
- Serving the community;
- Serving effectively on college committees., The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing instruction in computer networking and programming, gaming, animation, Internet technologies, and related areas;
- Leading the development and implementation of curriculum in gaming architecture and simulation;
- Tutoring Computer Science students;
- Helping coordinate and promote classes and programs in high schools, businesses and industry;
- Serving as instructional resource for the business community and public school systems of the service district, serving on college committees as assigned;
- Marketing the program, serving as an advisor to student organizations providing students with opportunities for leadership development;
- Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment; participating in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committee activities, and other forms of college service;
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned., This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with prior teaching experience in a postsecondary setting;
- Proven track record of effective instruction in computer courses using contemporary technologies for teaching and learning;
- Ability to function in an occupationally-oriented program requiring regular interfacing with secondary schools and industry;
- Documented successful on-the-job experiences in the contemporary workplace;
- Fluent in Internet technologies and computer applications related to the Information Technology degree;
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
- Preference shall be given to the following: o Ph.D. degree; o Programming skills in gaming, modeling, or animation; o Professional experience in the Information Technology industry; o Industry certifications such as Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA or Certified Web Master (CIW).
