Job description

Role summary: As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions by managing feature development, testing, and ongoing support across multiple platforms. You will apply advanced programming skills and AI/ML integration to enhance system intelligence while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical outcomes with business goals. This role demands strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving to ensure high-quality, reliable software that drives innovation and operational excellence within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. About the team: The team is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to enabling data-driven decision-making and operational excellence. It combines expertise in advanced analytics, applied research, and scalable engineering to solve complex business challenges. The team develops data platforms, predictive models, and optimization solutions that enhance efficiency and reliability. Collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business partners, it transforms insights into actionable systems, driving continuous improvement and innovation. The team designs analytics frameworks, builds scalable data pipelines, and implements automation to improve workflows, ensuring high data quality and system performance aligned with organizational goals. What you'll do:

  • Lead delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system goals.
  • Develop, test, and maintain high-quality, efficient code across multiple programming languages, supporting full software lifecycle and CI/CD processes.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
  • Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply best practices for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor application performance, support defect resolution, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor peers, share knowledge, and promote engineering excellence within the team.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Strong experience in delivering scoped features or models through collaborative engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in debugging, code review, and continuous development with a focus on quality and reliability.
  • Ability to integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
  • Skilled in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems aligned with platform objectives.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and technical judgment to balance trade-offs and long-term impacts.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps monitoring practices.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
