Role summary: The Director, Data Science leads the development and deployment of advanced analytical models and data strategies to drive business value. This role requires expertise in machine learning, coding, and data visualization to translate complex data into actionable insights. The position involves guiding teams, collaborating across functions, and ensuring solutions align with organizational objectives. The Director fosters innovation, oversees model validation, and supports scalable implementations while maintaining high standards of integrity and operational excellence to enhance decision-making and business performance. About the team: The OneDemand Forecasting team leads the development of advanced demand forecasting and machine learning solutions at scale. This team designs and refines models analyzing extensive data across multiple items, stores, and locations. Collaborating closely with business, product, and engineering teams, they align forecasting efforts with operational priorities. The team applies advanced statistical and machine learning methods to improve accuracy, scalability, and explainability. Partnering with engineering, they scale forecasting platforms to support varied business needs and time horizons, driving impactful data science initiatives that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. What you'll do:
- Lead the development and deployment of advanced data science solutions aligned with business strategies and objectives.
- Oversee model design, testing, validation, and continuous improvement to ensure accuracy and robustness.
- Define and implement data strategies that maximize the value of data assets across multiple domains.
- Guide teams in coding, testing, and documentation to deliver scalable, production-ready applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable data initiatives and measurable outcomes.
- Mentor and develop talent to build a high-performing data science organization.
- Drive innovation by integrating emerging machine learning techniques and data visualization best practices.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in data science, machine learning algorithms, and advanced analytical modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages including Python, SQL, and Java for code development and testing.
- Strong understanding of data strategy, data quality, and data governance principles to drive business value.
- Expertise in deploying, monitoring, and scaling machine learning models in production environments.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable data-driven solutions and strategies.
- Proven leadership skills in mentoring teams and managing cross-functional collaboration.
