Job description

Be part of the nation's only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Entry-Level Central Characterization Program (CCP) Site Project Manager (SPM) and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as an Entry-Level SPM, as detailed in the WIPP Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP), for the Central Characterization Program (CCP).

The SPM is responsible for data validation and verification to ensure Transuranic (TRU) waste destined for WIPP meets the requirements of the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC). Additionally, the SPM will be proficient at procedure/document generation and reviews, identification and disposition of non-conformances, scheduling, and performance tracking. The SPM will interface with regulatory agencies including but not limited to the Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and New Mexico Environment Department (NMED).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, etc. Recent graduates are encourage to apply.

  • Experience/Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is mandatory

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous WIPP experience., Exempt grade level(s) 28-31. Salary range: $70,972 to $133,850 per year -- the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate's relevant experience and education.
