As a Software Engineer Sr - COBOL Developer within PNC's Treasury Solutions organization, you will can based in Pittsburgh, PA; Strongsville, OH; or Farmers Branch, TX.

PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position., * Serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for the stability, compliance, and continuous operation of COBOL-based applications that support client implementation and ongoing maintenance.
- Act as a trusted technical partner to internal stakeholders by troubleshooting complex system issues and guiding teams through process improvements and federally mandated changes.
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical solutions using COBOL.
- Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL programs for batch and online processing.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues in existing COBOL applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and QA testers, to deliver reliable solutions.
- Document code changes and system processes for future reference.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and best practices for software development., * Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
- Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support PNC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in COBOL programming, including experience with mainframe systems (e.g., IBM z/OS).
- Familiarity with related technologies such as JCL, CICS, DB2, or VSAM.
- Experience with SAS, NDM, FILE-AID, CompairX, Datamover, BlueZone
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with modernization projects or migration from legacy systems.
- Knowledge of financial or insurance industry applications.
- Understanding of Agile or Waterfall development methodologies. General use of JIRA, Confluence, Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role.
