Job description

  • The Delaware Area Career Center System Security Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and manual skill in the installation, servicing, and repair of the district's technology equipment and infrastructure. This job description is a comprehensive list of essential functions. Essential functions are job duties a staff member must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations., * Responsible for overseeing the preservation of DACC's technology infrastructure and equipment
  • Responsible for ensuring the district's technology is up to date with industry standard cybersecurity measures
  • Responsible for providing tier two technical support to students, staff, and families for the effective use of computers, software, and other IT peripherals
  • Responsible for recommending, installing, maintaining and regularly using a ticketing system to log incidents and service requests
  • Responsible for leveraging scripting language(s) to streamline IT operations as well as to perform data queries and/or account creation
  • Responsible for ensuring that IT services are available when expected and needed
  • Responsible for preparing competitive bid specifications
  • Responsible for participating in staff meetings as well as professional growth opportunities and sharing all learned information with appropriate district staff
  • Responsible for leading by example with a commitment to self-development through setting targets of training and development activities related to current and future job requirements
  • Responsible for leading by example regarding direction and motivation through personal integrity, responsibility and accountability related to current and future job requirements
  • Responsible for job success by planning and organizing time appropriately and keeping current with appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals and objectives
  • Responsible for managing the technical aspects of the district Learning Management System
  • Responsible for providing technical trainings to DACC staff
  • Responsible for developing and enforcing rules, policies and procedures that promote the stability, security, proper use and care of IT equipment
  • Responsible for establishing, managing and disabling user accounts and associated data on a regular basis
  • Responsible for meeting deadlines and producing solutions to technological challenges
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, patching, updating, and routine cleaning of all equipment
  • Responsible for repairing a wide variety of technology equipment
  • Responsible for being available to work irregular hours and/or a non-traditional schedule

Communication & Support:

  • Responsible for supporting leadership in order to help staff improve proficiency with technology resources
  • Responsible for submitting reports, records and inventories as directed
  • Responsible for supporting teachers enabling them to explore innovative technologies that will enhance classroom activities
  • Responsible for working with DACC staff and vendors to address equipment warranty, repair and security
  • Responsible for supporting DACC staff and vendors regarding construction and installation activities
  • Responsible for communicating to the appropriate staff any change management documents
  • Responsible for keeping the department director informed regarding work progress via regular and ongoing communication avenues
  • Responsible for preparing necessary support documentation. This includes but is not limited to date of installation, locations, upgrades, versions, vendor contact information, etc.
  • Responsible for preparing procedure sheets for internal department documentation
  • Responsible for preparing documentation for a diverse user base for varying technologies

System Security Engineer:

  • Responsible for maintaining current Microsoft Azure and Window's server certifications
  • Responsible for backups of production IT systems and user data
  • Responsible for providing Windows server and system administration for Microsoft Azure, M365, Windows Server, SharePoint, Active Directory, Intune, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
  • Responsible for providing telecommunications system administration
  • Responsible for configuring and managing Microsoft Exchange environment
  • Responsible for configuring and managing virtualized platforms
  • Responsible for providing enterprise storage (SAN) administration
  • Responsible for configuring and managing patch management systems for endpoints and servers
  • Responsible for configuring and managing FileMaker servers and databases

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining visibility in the community and promoting a professional image of the school district

  • Responsible for developing a strategy to accomplish personal performance objectives within specified timelines

  • Responsible for watching for student behavior that may include a problem and reporting those concerns to the appropriate administrator. This includes but is not limited to:

Responsible for wearing appropriate work attire and maintaining a neat appearance

Ensuring Student Safety:

  • Employees shall be expected to exercise reasonable care with respect to the safety of students and student property. Employees shall discharge their duties and responsibilities to students and property according to the applicable Laws, State guidelines and Board policies., * Exposure to air-borne particulates, chemicals, combustible materials, electrical hazards, loud noises, moving mechanical parts, odors, slippery/uneven surfaces, etc.
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens or contagious diseases.
  • Exposure to severe weather conditions or temperature extremes.
  • Movements that require balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, or reaching.
  • Operating or riding in a vehicle. Working in or near vehicular traffic.
  • Performing tasks that require complex sequencing, dexterity, strength, stamina, etc.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a field appropriate for this position (Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, Educational Technology or other equivalent disciplines) and/or three (3) years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Current certification in Windows Azure, Windows Server, Cisco, Fortinet, VMWare, Google Workspace, Security+, CISSP, or Ethical Hacking Certificate preferred, * Knowledge of state and federal regulations and accreditation standards
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies related to students
  • Knowledge of FERPA, IDEA and HIPPA
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging education and instructional technologies and software
  • Knowledge of all DACC adopted software
  • Knowledge in IT networking with LAN, WAN, enterprise WiFi,
  • Knowledge of Windows server administration, virtual server environments
  • Knowledge of SAN enterprise storage, database management, and scripting
  • Knowledge of the use of a wide range of information technology systems and learning management system
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
