Job description

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science., Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

Site Assessment & Project Initiation:

  • Conduct site assessments to define project scope, deliverables, constraints, and success criteria in alignment with the statement of work.

  • Translate customer requirements into structured project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource needs.

  • Facilitate project kickoff and planning sessions with customer stakeholders to align on scope and execution approach.

Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure alignment to project schedule and execution objectives.

  • Balance competing priorities and adjust plans as needed to maintain project timelines.

Execution & Delivery:

  • Own end-to-end execution of implementation projects, ensuring delivery against defined scope, timelines, and performance expectations.

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to drive on-time and high-quality project delivery.

  • Monitor project execution and resolve issues to ensure successful implementation and service launch.

Risk & Issue Management:

  • Identify project risks, dependencies, and constraints, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.

  • Proactively assess risks related to timelines, stakeholder alignment, and site conditions, and drive resolution of issues impacting project progress.

  • Escalate risks and delays as appropriate and implement corrective actions.

Resource & Vendor Coordination:

  • Coordinate and allocate internal and external resources to meet project deliverables and timelines.

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to define project scope, schedules, and performance expectations.

  • Facilitate planning sessions with stakeholders and partners to ensure coordinated execution.

Project Tracking & Reporting:

  • Track project progress against defined milestones and deliverables, ensuring adherence to timelines and scope.

  • Provide regular status reporting, highlighting risks, progress, and key decisions.

  • Maintain project documentation, including plans, updates, and implementation outcomes.

Implementation Oversight (Inventory / Lab Setup):

  • Oversee execution of inventory setup and laboratory implementation activities to ensure alignment with project scope and timelines.

  • Validate completion of implementation deliverables, including inventory accuracy, system setup, and process transitions.

  • Ensure successful transition to operational state through structured project closeout activities.

Problem-Solving & Decision Making:

  • Analyze project-related challenges, including timelines, stakeholder constraints, and resource limitations, and implement effective solutions.

  • Apply project management expertise to resolve recurring but varied implementation challenges. Disclaimer:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent practical experience in laboratory operations, inventory management, or related disciplines

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in laboratory operations, inventory management, scientific services, supply chain, or project coordination.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration platforms (Teams, SharePoint, etc.).

  • Ability to travel frequently to customer sites.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport implementation materials as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in research, pharmaceutical, biotech, academic, or industrial laboratory environments.

  • Knowledge of inventory management systems, barcode technologies, and laboratory consumables.

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety regulations and PPE requirements.

Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

This role requires regular work in laboratory, research, and manufacturing environments. Candidates must be comfortable working in laboratory spaces containing biological and chemical materials, evaluating storage areas, handling implementation materials, and complying with all customer safety and PPE requirements.

$70,000 - $80,000 flexible benefit account, paid time off, paid holidays, tuition assistance, 401(k), retirement plan United States, Illinois Jul 16, 2026 The Opportunity, Candidate must reside within the Eastern U.S. region. This is a field-based position and not a traditional work-from-home role. The position requires significant travel (approximately 50-75%) to customer sites throughout the Eastern United States. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel and working onsite at customer laboratory, research, and manufacturing facilities.

Shift: Monday - Friday (1st shift, hours may vary depending on customer operation hours)

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $62,500.00 - $100,625.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
