Job description

JCS Solutions is seeking a Network Administrator to support enterprise network operations for the Air Force National Capital Region (AFNCR). This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, securing, and maintaining mission-critical network infrastructure supporting Air Force operations. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled network professional with expertise in Cisco technologies, network security, Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, and DoD compliance requirements., This individual will support daily network operations, incident response, infrastructure upgrades, vendor coordination, and cybersecurity initiatives while ensuring the availability and security of enterprise networks., * Monitor enterprise network infrastructure for alarms, outages, service degradation, and performance issues.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents involving routers, switches, encryption devices, and associated infrastructure.
  • Escalate issues appropriately while coordinating resolution efforts across technical teams.
  • Support enterprise Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve network outages and performance issues.
  • Process Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) as directed by management.
  • Maintain network security compliance through implementation of STIGs, security updates, and IOS upgrades.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure supporting mission operations.
  • Support encryption devices located at network points of presence and maintain associated management systems.
  • Utilize DoD network management tools, including GEM-X or similar platforms.
  • Support day-to-day network operations and special projects assigned by site leadership.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting operational requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of network changes, troubleshooting actions, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity, network hardening, and COMSEC requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Current DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification.

  • Current CCNA or CCNP Security certification.

  • Expert knowledge of LAN switching technologies.

  • Strong experience with:

  • VLANs
  • VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP)
  • Port Security
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
  • Layer 2 Switching
  • Layer 3 Switching
  • Expert-level understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols, including:
  • EIGRP
  • OSPF
  • IS-IS
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience across Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 network architectures.
  • Experience supporting both classified and unclassified network environments.
  • Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity and network hardening requirements.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise encryption devices.
  • Experience with DoD network management systems and operational tools.
  • Familiarity with DoD COMSEC management processes and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and AFNCR network environments.

  • Previous experience supporting operations at:

  • Joint Base Andrews (JBA)
  • Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)
  • The Pentagon
  • Deep expertise implementing STIG compliance and network security hardening initiatives.
  • Experience supporting highly available enterprise networks in mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex network issues while minimizing operational impact.
  • Experience working directly with military customers and mission partners.

At JCS Solutions, compensation is based on a number of factors such as location, qualifications, and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $105,000 to $114,000, Invitation for Job Applicants to Self-Identify as a U.S. Veteran
