The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems., * Working with minimal direction, the role requires deep technical expertise across multiple software disciplines and an understanding of systemwide implications and user needs
- Ideal candidates have a proven track record of building and supporting high-performance applications and possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with automated testing, software development, best practices, and a collaborative mindset is essential to success in this role
- Willingness to accept unforeseen assignments
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
- Will also debug, configure, and maintain existing codebases and create automated tools to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency
- Will design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, object-oriented applications utilizing common OOP languages and Python
- Conducts detailed analysis, design, coding, unit and integration testing, performance benchmarking, operational integration, and provides ongoing user support for complex software products
Requirements

- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Proficiency in Python and at least one additional object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C# , or C++ )
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience in software integration and formal testing
- Strong background supporting software engineering on DoD programs
- Experience in developing command and control (C2) system applications
- Strong understanding of software development best practices and the ability to apply them in a multi-team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record of root-cause analysis and issue resolution
- Proven ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous learning and drives the team toward shared success
- Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
- Experience presenting complex concepts to non-software-engineering audiences, including senior program leadership, government representatives, and military leaders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
- Strong knowledge of Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence ) to support Agile software development teams

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
