Our work depends on a Software Developer Principal joining our team to design/develop/modernize the client's software in a highly Agile environment attending daily scrums and following Sprint Ceremonies/Best

*Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team that maintains and modernizes applications in cloud environments with emphasis on scalable, secure backend services for data-driven tools.

  • Build and maintain Databricks jobs/notebooks and integrations that support large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and analytics required by backend services and reporting components.

  • Working on a fast-paced Angular/Java/Springboot development effort in a Cloud DevOps environment with a 100% remote Agile team

  • Design, implement, and maintain backend components and APIs that integrate, aggregate, and expose data from multiple upstream systems and data stores (e.g., relational databases, search engines, and Databricks-backed data pipelines).

  • Implement and execute performance tests to identify and help remediate performance bottlenecks in databases, Databricks jobs, search engines, and microservices .

  • Work within Agile/Scrum teams, using Rally to manage and update user stories and tasks throughout 3-week sprints.

  • Analyze and implement user stories to meet functional and non-functional requirements accurately (performance, scalability, security, usability).

  • Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive unit tests to ensure performance, reliability, and a consistent user experience.

  • Enforce unit testing and code coverage standards before commits/merges in GitLab to reduce defects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, testers, product owners, data engineers, and stakeholders) to deliver high-quality software that aligns with business and domain needs.

  • Build and manage datasets to support automated, manual, and exploratory testing, including realistic scenarios involving integrated data sources.

Experience:

4 + years of related experience, + 3+ years of related Databricks experience and system integration with an Agile development team

  • Ability to lead, communicate and troubleshoot with a team that works 100% remotely

  • Be online and responsive to the team and client using email/TEAMS chat during business hours

  • Required Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks for data processing, transformation, and analytics, including developing and maintaining data pipelines/notebooks that integrate with backend services and downstream data stores.

  • Strong experience in back-end services and implementing capabilities to support web applications using microservices.

  • 5+ years of Java/J2EE (Java 19 or higher preferred) work experience.

  • Experience with systems that integrate and aggregate data from multiple sources using Databricks to support analytical or examination workflows.

  • Experience with performance tracking, workflow, or analytics systems that rely on integrating data from multiple enterprise sources.

  • Java REST APIs / Microservices.

  • Angular 19+.

  • Typescript, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, PrimeNG, RxJS.

  • 2+ years of AWS experience with:

  • ECS (building Docker images and deploying them in a cluster).

  • ECR (Docker image repository).

  • 2+ years of relational database experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL (or Oracle 19), including the ability to write and understand SQL queries.

  • Experience designing and implementing data access layers and integrations with search/analytics engines (e.g., Elasticsearch) for high-volume query workloads.

  • Terraform and GitLab pipeline configuration.

  • Building and coding backend applications and/or models using Spring/Spring Boot framework.

  • Security Clearance Level: Public Trust

  • Preferred Skills:

  • OpenTelemetry.

  • Grafana.

  • Prometheus.

  • SONAR.

  • JSON, XML data formats.

  • Selenium Testing Framework.

  • Bash/PowerShell.

  • Experience with Okta.

  • Location: Remote

  • US Citizenship or Green Card Required with 2 years of continuous residency in the US

Benefits & conditions

The likely salary range for this position is $136,000 - $184,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee's date of hire.
