Job description

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, and distributed cloud services.

As the Director of a Software Engineering division, you will lead and manage a high-performing engineering organization responsible for designing, developing,troubleshooting, and operating mission-critical cloud security services. This role supports the OCI Crypto organization , which owns multiple Tier 0 services that are foundational to OCI's security posture and feature offerings, including Key Management Service (KMS) , Secrets (SSv2 and SiV) , Certificates (PKI and Certificates) , and the Key Encryption Service (KES) .

The Crypto organization secures the foundations of OCI by delivering trusted key management, certificate management, secrets management, and hardware-backedencryption services that are resilient, scalable, secure, and simple for OCI services and customers to rely on. As a senior engineering leader, you will drive the technical vision, operational excellence, reliability, and strategic execution of these critical security platforms while leading teams responsible for large-scale distributed systems that underpin OCI's cloud infrastructure.

Leveraging your deep expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, cloud operations, and engineering leadership, you will oversee software developmentinitiatives that align with current and future design specifications. You will drive enhancements within existing architectures and champion innovative solutions that strengthen OCI's security, availability, and customer trust.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineering managers and engineers focused on software development, operations, security services, and distributed systems.

  • Own the delivery, reliability, availability, scalability, and operational excellence of a Tier 0 Crypto service

  • Oversee the design, development, testing, debugging, deployment, and operation of large-scale cloud-native security services.

  • Build and implement enhancements within the existing software architecture while driving long-term architectural evolution and modernization.

  • Establish and enforce operational policies through subordinate managers to ensure consistent execution of engineering and security best practices.

  • Partner closely with OCI service teams and executive stakeholders to define strategy, prioritize investments, and influence technical direction across OCI.

  • Drive engineering excellence through best practices in software development lifecycle, security, quality assurance, operational readiness, and release management.

  • Ensure services meet stringent availability, durability, security, compliance, and performance requirements expected of OCI Tier 0 platforms.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, operational rigor, and customer obsession.

  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding business objectives, technical strategy, service health, organizational development, and resource planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience leading organizations responsible for large-scale distributed systems and cloud services.

  • Proven track record of leadership and people management in complex software development environments.

  • Strong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and service operations.

  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale software projects and cross-functional engineering organizations.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.

  • Deep understanding of software development processes, operational excellence, site reliability, and security considerations in distributed systems.

  • Experience working with executive leadership and influencing organizational strategy and policy.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building or operating security, cryptography, key management, certificate management, or secrets management services.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems design.

  • Experience with highly available Tier 0 or mission-critical services.

  • Knowledge of modern DevOps, SRE, and operational excellence practices.

  • Familiarity with hardware security modules (HSMs), encryption technologies, PKI, identity, or security infrastructure.

  • Experience with large-scale distributed databases and networking technologies.

  • Ability to define and execute long-term technical vision and organizational strategy.

Benefits & conditions

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $122,500 to $355,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
