The Lead Cloud Architect leads the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities, with a focus on Google Cloud Platform. This role provides technical direction for secure, scalable, resilient, and integrated cloud solutions that support enterprise application teams and business technology objectives. The Lead Cloud Architect works on complex problems of moderate to substantial scope, evaluating architecture options and guiding technical decisions across interdependent cloud, security, networking, automation, and platform technologies.
The Lead Cloud Architect provides technical leadership, architecture direction, and engineering guidance for enterprise Google Cloud Platform capabilities. This role is responsible for technical planning, architecture development, and ongoing evolution of GCP computing environments. The goal is to ensure cloud solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.
The Lead Cloud Architect develops architecture specifications, reference patterns, engineering standards, and service offerings for cloud infrastructure and cloud-native platforms. This includes evaluating new and existing cloud products and services, assessing compatibility and integration across interdependent technologies, and recommending standards that enable consistent and governed cloud adoption across the enterprise.
This role partners with cloud platform engineering, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application delivery teams, and technology leaders to define and implement cloud strategies that support modernization, automation, reliability, and operational excellence. The Lead Cloud Architect advises leaders on complex technical matters and helps shape functional strategies with segment-specific or enterprise-wide impact.
The Lead Cloud Architect works under minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment on complex issues requiring analysis of multiple technical, operational, security, and business factors. This role determines appropriate courses of action, drives stakeholder alignment, and provides technical direction to ensure cloud platform capabilities meet current and future business needs., * WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
- A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
- A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Requirements

- 8 or more years of technical experience
- 2 or more years of project leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications
- GCP Certification(s)
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise cloud platforms, preferably with Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with cloud architecture, infrastructure as code, networking, identity and access management, security controls, observability, resiliency, and operational support models.
- Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing architecture decisions across engineering, security, infrastructure, and application teams.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical options, assess risk and integration impacts, and recommend enterprise-ready solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to advise technical teams, senior leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, service mesh, CI/CD, policy automation, logging, monitoring, and platform engineering practices.
Benefits & conditions
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$142,300 - $195,700 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
