Job description
NATO runs its business analytics on Microsoft Power BI, and the NATO Business Applications Centre (NBAC) needs a seasoned Power BI specialist to keep that platform fast, reliable and secure, and to build the dashboards and the people who use them. This role is equal parts platform engineering, development and enablement.
You'll own the Power BI Report Server (on-premises) and Power BI Service (cloud): tuning and administering them, resolving the L2/L3 tickets, running the patching and upgrades, and delivering a set of new interactive dashboards. You'll also mentor NATO's power users so they can build their own.
What you'll do

Configure, tune and optimise Power BI Server for performance and reliability

Deliver L2/L3 platform support, monitoring, backups, logs, performance tuning

Run incident, problem and change management to ITIL and NATO service protocols

Perform planned on-premises patching and upgrades under release authorisation

Design and deliver interactive Power BI dashboards, including migrating one from another platform

Contribute to BI architecture, data-modelling standards and Standard Operating Procedures
Requirements
5+ years consulting on large-scale business-application implementations

3+ years with Power BI Report Server (on-prem) and Power BI Service (cloud), configuration, administration, troubleshooting

3+ years Power BI development, data modelling, DAX and dashboard/report building

5+ years MS SQL Server (2014 or higher), complex SQL and ETL

Data modelling, normalised/denormalised, star/snowflake schemas

Level 2/3 support in ITIL environments; Agile delivery experience

Full professional English (C1 or equivalent)

Nice to have: ADFS claims-based auth for Power BI Server, Oracle databases, KNIME, Java; awareness of NATO/ACO/ACT
