Job description

  • Programming & automation: developing scripts (primarily in Python) to automate data processing and reporting workflows
  • Data preparation & cleaning: preparing and structuring heterogeneous, unstructured datasets while ensuring data quality
  • Deduplication / record linkage: identifying and merging duplicates using fuzzy matching methods (e.g. string similarity) and, where applicable, ML-based approaches
  • Database management: building, maintaining, and querying databases (e.g. SQL, Baserow)
  • Operations & infrastructure: contributing to the configuration and maintenance of the server and processing environment
  • Visualization & reporting: preparing results as meaningful visualizations and dashboards for scientific reporting

What you contribute

Requirements

  • Good Python skills, ideally with experience in common data analysis libraries (e.g. pandas, NumPy)
  • Basic knowledge of databases and SQL
  • Very good German (C1) and good English skills (B2)
  • Reliable, careful, and independent way of working

Nice to have:

  • Initial experience with machine learning methods and/or natural language processing (NLP), or willingness to quickly get up to speed
  • Interest in, or first knowledge of, data cleaning and duplicate detection methods
  • Experience working with large datasets and a good feel for data analysis and visual presentation of results
  • Confident use of Git for version control and collaborative development
  • Basic knowledge of server configuration and administration (e.g. Linux, command line)
