Job description

The Autonomy Infrastructure and Visualization Engineer (M/F) position is within Airbus UpNext Spain, based in Getafe, starting ASAP, and it consists of a limited contract linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator - estimated completion date end of December 2028., At Airbus UpNext, we are looking for an Autonomy Infrastructure and Visualization Engineer to design, deploy, and scale the essential tooling, visualization platforms, and network infrastructure that enable deterministic, real-time autonomy. You will be key in creating the operational environment and diagnostic capabilities, bridging autonomy development with robust observability and continuous deployment practices.

Your mission will be to ensure that advanced autonomy algorithms are not only powerful but can also be reliably developed, continuously integrated, and monitored effectively in flight-ready environments. If you enjoy turning infrastructure and complex data into actionable, reliable systems and visual interfaces, this is your cockpit.

Your Mission

As Autonomy Infrastructure and Visualization Engineer, your mission is to establish the robust infrastructure and advanced tooling necessary for the continuous integration, deployment (CI/CD), and operation of autonomy software.

You will focus on high-density observability, creating intuitive Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for monitoring and controlling the autonomy system, and maintaining the stability of development and test environments, ensuring frictionless collaboration across multidisciplinary teams., * Observability, Telemetry Analysis, and Dashboards: Define and implement the observability architecture for autonomy software, including real-time monitoring, data logging, and Telemetry analysis. Design and create visualization dashboards (e.g., using Grafana) to ensure predictable and safe execution.

  • Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Development: Design and implement user-friendly HMIs, including web-based front-end and proxy back-end systems, for the real-time visualization, operational control, and debugging of autonomy functions (Human Machine Interface development - webpage front-end / proxy back-end development).
  • CI/CD and DevOps: Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines tailored for embedded and safety-critical systems, ensuring fast, automated DevOps integration and validation of autonomy functions.
  • Software Tooling and Digital Continuity: Define, deploy, and maintain the SW Tooling ecosystem required to support efficient integration and validation of autonomy functions. Ensure seamless integration of model-based development workflows and testing frameworks across SIL, PIL, and HIL environments.
  • Test Bench and IP Network Management: Support the configuration, maintenance, and diagnostics of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test benches, including managing the underlying Benches IP Network infrastructure, ensuring reliable communication and data integrity for verification activities., * Pivotal Role in a Strategic Mission and develop Critical Competences: play a key part in a project at the forefront of the development of technology to enable UAS flight and open the way for complex missions.
  • Build Something that last: Your work will create high-value assets and learning contribution for Airbus's future.
  • Work on the Edge of Technology: Explore disruptive technologies at their limits.
  • Agile and Empowering Environment: Thrive in a work culture that empowers you to act and think like a start-up while being supported by the strong expertise of Airbus. We value an eagerness to take initiative and propose efficient ways of working.
  • A Great Team and Culture: Be part of a high-achieving, experienced and fun team in a shared open-space office with highly skilled colleagues. We are guided by the "Care for Each Other" value.
  • The responsibilities and the technical scope of the job might evolve according to the agile working environment of the project, so being flexible is important.
  • Flexibility & Fun: Enjoy the ability to craft your calendar ️ with flexible hours and the opportunity to work remotely, alongside regular UpNext community bonding events. And yes, we have complimentary freshly ground coffee and beverages

Requirements

  • Strong background in Software Tooling (C++/C/Python) and Infrastructure Engineering for embedded or safety-critical systems.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Observability platforms like Grafana for real-time system monitoring and data visualization.
  • Experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) development, including webpage front-end and proxy back-end development.
  • Deep understanding and proven experience in CI/CD pipeline establishment and DevOps practices tailored for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with network configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance of IP Network infrastructure, particularly for integration and Benches environments.
  • Experience with Robotics Middleware: Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with modern robotic or autonomy middleware frameworks (e.g., ROS/ROS 2, DDS implementations) as the core data transport layer for telemetry and visualization.
  • Linux System Administration for Embedded Systems: Strong proficiency with Linux system administration, especially in resource-constrained or real-time embedded environments, including deployment, kernel configuration, and system hardening.
  • Scripting for Automation: Advanced proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., C++, C, Python, Bash) for complex system automation, data processing workflows, and comprehensive test execution within the CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge on deploying on-premise AI agent ecosystems to enhance software development and DevOps, including locally hosted LLMs, multi-agent orchestration, and use cases such as code generation, test automation, and CI/CD optimization.
  • Experience with Model-Based Development (e.g., Simulink) and auto-code generation.
  • Experience with software integration, debugging, and performance optimization in real-time environments.
  • Familiarity with SIL, PIL, and HIL verification environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary engineering teams and manage technical risks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Willingness to have fun, This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.
