Job description
- We design and develop high-performance, safe, and maintainable systems software using Rust.
- We collaborate with team members on architectural decisions, own features end-to-end from design through to deployment, and participate in code reviews.
- We debug and optimise systems for performance, memory usage, concurrent programming, and maximum reliability.
- We interface software with custom low-level platforms, handling protocols for connected fleet and transit gateways.
- We participate actively in agile development processes, manage our own workload, and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.

More:
We are partnering with a market-leading specialist engineering firm providing mission-critical technology for the global transport and infrastructure sectors. You will join our close-knit, highly collaborative R&D team of 8 engineering professionals in a pure systems-level engineering role focused entirely on performance-critical software for embedded devices, not servers. We offer an autonomous environment where you can solve complex technical challenges using Rusts memory safety and concurrency features. We are looking to move quickly on this role, and sponsorship is not an option.
Requirements
- We have at least 2+ years of commercial software development experience, with demonstrable experience deploying Rust in production environments.
- We have a strong background in Rust, or an expert-level background in C/C++ development paired with strong, demonstrable Rust competence.
- We have deep comfort with systems programming concepts, specifically memory management, multi-threading, threading, and concurrency.
- We are exceptionally proficient in Rusts ownership model, borrowing mechanisms, and lifetimes.
- We are comfortable operating within Linux/Unix development environments, using Git, and working with modern CI/CD practices.
- We have proven experience working with testing frameworks and writing long-term maintainable code.
