Job description

You will:

  • Provide technical leadership and ownership for a software design
  • Develop software primarily in C++ that follows software design and interface control descriptions/specifications and adheres to the software architectures written in UML
  • Contribute to the development of software architectures that consider the constraints placed upon the system, write clear and concise software design definitions and record/capture design decisions/rationale
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering functions to analyse solution/product level requirements and operational concepts, perform trade off studies and contribute to a solution level architecture
  • Contribute to the testing activity appropriate to the products
  • Proactively be part of an Agile team and contribute to Agile ceremonies
  • Support peer reviews of others work and generation of materials for major gate reviews
  • Provide coaching and technical support to junior engineers, * There is ample opportunity to develop your skills within Thales, developing from senior engineer, to senior technical roles (e.g. Software Architect or Technical Specialist) or management roles (Project Software Engineering Manager)
  • Training is provided through a mixture of mentoring, online and in-person courses. Thales actively encourages membership of professional organisations such as the IET, and will pay membership fees and support individuals to work towards Chartered status."

Requirements

We would love to hear from you if meet the following:

  • You are a self-motivated software professional with 5+ years industry experience (post graduation)
  • Developed with C++ language as well as experience of working with bare metal and/or RTOS/OS in a real-time embedded environment (essential)
  • Experience of working with test frameworks (e.g. GoolgeTest, GoogleMock)
  • Experience of working with static analysis tools (e.g. Klocwork, Coverity) and test coverage tools (e.g. Bullseye).
  • Have some exposure to test automation/continuous build & integration
  • Have some understanding of common UML artefacts
  • Exposure to Rhapsody (or similar tool) is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in requirements management (e.g. DOORS) is desireable
  • Developing software systems to meet international safety systems such as IEC 61508 or DO-178C is desirable
