Job description
We are seeking an innovative and dynamic Linux Systems Engineer to help shape the next generation of secure endpoint solutions. This role is open to enthusiastic engineers ready to tackle complex challenges in a fast moving environment.
You will work at the intersection of Linux internals, networking and security, building solutions for high-profile clients. The work you do will contribute to endpoint technologies that will set the direction for the next decade - just as today's established solutions set the standard a decade ago.
Principle duties:
- Linux OS Development: Design, develop, and maintain Linux-based operating systems with a strong emphasis on security, performance, and reliability.
- System & Security Engineering: Work with Linux distributions, kernel-level components, and networking functionality, applying modern security principles to harden systems against evolving threats.
- Innovation & Problem-Solving: Investigate challenging issues, think creatively, and develop practical solutions.
- Collaboration: Partner with architects, researchers, and engineers to bring forward-thinking concepts into production-ready technology.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of low-level Linux internals (kernel modules, drivers, system APIs).
- Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls).
- Awareness of computer architecture security principles.
- Hands-on experience with Bash and Python scripting.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or another STEM discipline.
- Strong problem-solving ability with an innovative and independent mindset.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
- C programming skills for low-level or performance-critical development.
- Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with endpoint security, intrusion detection, or system hardening.
- Contributions to Linux or open-source projects.
- Experience with debugging, profiling, or performance optimisation tools.
Benefits & conditions
- Shape the future of secure endpoint technology.
- Work on high-impact projects for global, high-profile clients.
- Collaborate with a team of experts pushing the boundaries of Linux, networking, and security.
- Competitive compensation and strong opportunities for professional growth.
Package & discretionary benefits:
- 25 days annual leave plus an additional 2 days after 2 years' service
- 5 days additional holiday purchase available
- Private medical insurance
- Heath cashback plan with Healthshield
- Pension scheme
- Life cover 4 x salary
- Season ticket loan
- Salary exchange benefits (ride2work, pension)
- Subsidised gym membership
- Employee referral scheme
