Job description

  • We will administer, maintain, and support Oracle database environments across production, testing, and development landscapes.
  • We will design, implement, and manage Oracle RAC configurations to ensure high availability, scalability, and failover capabilities.
  • We will configure, monitor, and support Oracle Data Guard environments, including physical and logical standby databases, switchover, and failover activities.
  • We will perform proactive database monitoring and troubleshooting to maintain system health, availability, and performance.
  • We will lead database performance tuning initiatives by analyzing SQL execution plans, optimizing queries, and identifying system bottlenecks.
  • We will monitor database resource utilization and recommend improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • We will develop and execute backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN, ensuring successful database restoration and disaster recovery preparedness.
  • We will conduct backup validation, recovery testing, and regular disaster recovery exercises.
  • We will manage database patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management activities with minimal business disruption.
  • We will implement and maintain database security standards, user access controls, and compliance requirements.
  • We will collaborate with infrastructure, application, and support teams to ensure seamless database operations and issue resolution.
  • We will create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and best practice guidelines.
  • We will provide on-call support and participate in incident management and root cause analysis when required.

  • Security, We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA for a contract running from 29 July 2026 to 30 November 2026, based in Sheffield with three days a week in the office. This is an inside IR35 role paying up to £375 per day via umbrella. We are looking for someone who can manage mission-critical Oracle database environments with a strong focus on availability, performance, disaster recovery, and operational excellence. Requirements

  • We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
  • We need extensive hands-on expertise in Oracle RAC administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • We require proven experience with Oracle Data Guard setup, monitoring, maintenance, switchover, and failover operations.
  • We need strong knowledge of Oracle performance tuning and optimization, including SQL tuning, AWR, ASH, ADDM, and execution plan analysis.
  • We require advanced experience with RMAN backup and recovery, including backup strategy design, restoration, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning.
  • We need strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex Oracle database infrastructures.
  • We require experience supporting high-availability and mission-critical database environments.
  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate is desirable.
  • Knowledge of HashiCorp Vault is desirable.
  • Exposure to database automation, scripting, and infrastructure management tools is desirable.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database platforms is desirable.
  • A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Oracle certifications such as OCP or OCM are desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams is preferred.
