Job description
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex embedded software and DSP development activities, supporting the design and implementation of advanced communications systems.
The successful candidate will bring strong embedded/bare-metal software experience, a deep understanding of digital signal processing, and proven capability in implementing communication signal processing algorithms such as DDCs, filters and FFTs.
Requirements
- BEng/BSc or MSc/MEng within Engineering, ideally Electronics, Telecommunications, Software Engineering or a similar discipline\r\n
- Significant experience in DSP algorithm simulation, embedded software development and 5G communications systems\r\n
- Strong expertise in bare-metal and embedded C development, with the ability to guide architecture and implementation decisions\r\n
- Experience developing and debugging software in Linux-based environments\r\n
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and influence software design across the full development lifecycle\r\n

Experience of the following would be advantageous for the Principal Software Engineer job based near Leicestershire: \r\n \r\n
- Experience with Yocto-based Board Support Packages\r\n
- Cross compilers, including ARM GCC or similar toolchains\r\n
- FreeRTOS experience\r\n
- Experience with typical embedded control peripherals, such as RAM, Flash, UART, PWM, A/D, CAN, I2C and SPI\r\n
- Cortex M3/M4 Microcontrollers or similar.\r\n
- Experience with the efficient implementation of communications DSP algorithms, such as FFTs, filtering and DDC, including exposure to VHDL\r\n
