Job description

Project Engineer for the Calcine Disposition Project (CDP) will support the efforts to plan project scope, identify and organize resources, and execute work for the CDP. Responsibilities include applying management and engineering principles to the design modification, and operation of a test and processing facility at the DOE Idaho Site., * Develop and review project plans and proposals and collaborate with management to determine project objectives.

  • Identify project priorities by determining the phases and elements of the project. Calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including materials, labor, and other associated costs.
  • Coordinate with different teams and professionals, such as contractors, business support services, and engineers to ensure all parties are aligned with the project objectives.
  • Identify project risks, including analyzing and managing technical risks.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure it is staying on schedule and within budget. Make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Communicate project progress to ICP and DOE management and stakeholders as required or requested through reports and presentations.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting and problem-solving process that will address project needs and issues that may impact project success.
  • Coordinate services between the CDP and ICP support organizations
  • Develop project specific plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with document preparation and reviews.
  • Direct and monitor execution of project scope.
  • Provide project specific safety and compliance leadership.

Requirements

You MUST have 5 plus years of applicable experience., * Must also have experience interfacing with multiple support organizations (internal and external) as well as with DOE and various stakeholders (Idaho DEQ, U.S.EPA, Tribal Nation, and the public).

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to juggle simultaneous duties and priorities with limited direction and supervision are fundamental requirements for this position.
  • Ability to work effectively to short deadlines with rapidly changing priorities and work effectively with individual contributors and management.
  • Proficient use of ICO standard software and systems, such as EDMS, TrackWise, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, specifically with writing technical and project documentation.

The Project Engineer will be specifically responsible for developing project-specific documentation (such as schedules, cost estimates, project management and engineering documentation, and compliance strategies). The individual will develop project documentation as required by DOE directives and ICP company standards and procedures. Additionally, work scope will require being directly involved with the project work activities and will require routine field work at the DOE Idaho Site and interactions with management, support organizations, and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree plus 5 years directly applicable experience.

Special Requirements/Training (Optional):

Experience working at a DOE facility and familiarity with DOE orders and requirements, specifically DOE O 413.3B and DOE-STD-1189-2016, DOE-STD-1073, and DOE-STD-1104-2016.

Environmental, Safety, and Health Statement:

Must be familiar with, and comply with, all relevant health and safety requirements. Must be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures, methods for reporting/resolving unsafe work practices or conditions to available cognizant professionals.
