job summary: Our client is seeking a skilled Automation Applications Engineer to help develop, deploy, and support advanced manufacturing systems that integrate CNC machine tools with cutting-edge robotics and automation software.
In this multi-faceted role, you will be the technical lead for sophisticated automation units (such as Linear Pallet Systems and Gantry Loaders) integrated with our advanced machinery. You will act as a key technical resource, empowering dealers and customers through high-impact training and providing critical troubleshooting support both remotely and in the field.

responsibilities:
- Automation Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the primary application engineer for advanced automation systems, including both proprietary and third-party solutions (e.g., Linear Pallet Systems, Gantry Loaders).
- Develop Training Materials: Create practical, step-by-step documentation, guides, and "how-to" training materials for complex automation systems.
- Empower Dealers & Customers: Conduct engaging, highly technical hands-on training sessions for dealer networks and end-user customers.
- Deliver Technical Support: Provide comprehensive remote troubleshooting and support (via phone and email). Author and publish proactive technical documents to expand our internal knowledge base.
- Field Troubleshooting: Travel to customer sites as needed to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced mechanical, electrical, and automation system issues.
What We Are Looking For
- Industry Experience: 5 to 10 years of professional experience in the machine tool (metal cutting) industry.
- CNC Controls & Programming:
- Proficient with FANUC controls (SIEMENS experience is a plus).
- NC programming background in both Milling and Turning applications.
- Deep understanding of macro programming, including system and macro variables.
- Hands-on Machine Operation: Full capability to independently set up and run CNC machines (managing tool/work offsets, fixture installations, etc.).
- Software Foundations: Proficiency in at least one industry-standard CAD/CAM software.
- PLC Foundations: Baseline understanding of PLCs (e.g., utilizing ladder logic/PLCs for troubleshooting and diagnostics).
