Job description

We are seeking a Data Governance and Application Inventory Analyst. This role supports a focused initiative to improve the completeness, accuracy, and governance of a Business Application Inventory (CMDB). The position involves partnering with Data Governance, CMDB, Enterprise Architecture, and Application SMEs to reconcile application inventories, improve data quality, and standardize application inventory definitions., * Reconcile application records across multiple sources, including CMDB, vendor systems, EA tools, and SSO/discovery datasets.

  • Identify missing, duplicate, and mismatched applications through analysis and fuzzy matching techniques.
  • Cleanse and normalize application data by standardizing naming conventions and aligning vendor or application relationships.
  • Identify and remediate data quality issues such as incomplete records, inconsistent fields, and misclassification.
  • Update and enrich CMDB records with ownership, vendor alignment, and classification details.
  • Document current-state issues in onboarding and recertification processes and provide input for future-state improvements.
  • Create documentation of data rules, definitions, and mapping logic.

Requirements

  • Strong data analysis and data cleansing experience.
  • Experience working with application inventories, CMDBs, or IT asset data.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables.
  • Experience with data matching, deduplication, and normalization techniques.
  • Familiarity with data quality management principles, metadata, taxonomy, and classification frameworks.
  • Understanding of enterprise application landscapes, including SaaS, vendor tools, and internal systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Clear communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
  • Proficiency with SQL.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow (CMDB).
  • Experience with data tools such as Alteryx, Python, or Power BI.
  • Exposure to application lifecycle or IT governance processes.
  • Experience supporting data reconciliation or inventory cleanup initiatives.
