Job description
We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to help design, build, and scale a next-generation private cloud data platform supporting enterprise analytics and data workloads. This role will play a critical part in a large-scale data center transformation initiative, enabling a secure, highly available, and multi-tenant platform that supports more than 70 business applications and teams.
As a member of the platform engineering team, you will work across infrastructure, Kubernetes, observability, automation, and security domains to deliver a production-ready platform that accelerates enterprise data adoption. What You'll Do Platform Engineering & Architecture
- Design, build, and operate a scalable private cloud data platform leveraging Kubernetes, with a preference for OpenShift.
- Develop and integrate core platform services across compute, storage, networking, and security layers.
- Support modernization and migration initiatives by enabling cloud-native infrastructure and platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and networking teams to establish foundational services, including load balancing, routing, and firewall integrations.
Multi-Tenant Platform Enablement
- Design platform capabilities that support secure onboarding and operation of 70+ tenant applications.
- Define resource allocation models, access management patterns, and operational standards for tenant environments.
- Partner with application and data engineering teams to optimize adoption and platform usability.
Observability & Reliability
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding solutions that provide visibility into platform health and performance.
- Establish operational best practices for incident response, reliability engineering, and service availability.
- Drive continuous improvements in platform observability and operational excellence.
Automation & DevOps
- Create infrastructure and platform automation using Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps methodologies.
- Develop automated deployment, provisioning, and lifecycle management solutions.
- Support CI/CD and platform release processes to improve delivery velocity and reliability.
Security & Compliance
- Implement enterprise-grade security controls, governance standards, and compliance requirements.
- Design secure network communication patterns and access controls within Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
- Partner with security teams to align platform capabilities with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building and operating Kubernetes-based platforms in enterprise environments.
- Experience administering Linux systems in production environments.
- Experience designing and implementing platform observability solutions.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation frameworks.
- Experience collaborating across infrastructure, security, networking, and application engineering teams., * Experience with OpenShift platform administration and engineering.
- Experience with object storage technologies.
- Experience supporting distributed execution engines such as Apache Spark or Trino.
- Experience with modern table formats including Apache Iceberg and Apache Hive.
- Experience with metadata and data lineage platforms such as DataHub.
- Experience with observability tools including:
- Grafana
- Prometheus
- BigPanda
- PagerDuty
- ThousandEyes
- Experience with:
- Terraform
- Helm
- GitOps practices
- Argo CD
- Experience working with ServiceNow for operational workflows and change management.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing and enforcing OpenShift ingress and egress controls.
- Experience implementing secure north-south traffic patterns in Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with load balancing and traffic routing for highly available services.
- Experience implementing network segmentation and tenant isolation strategies in multi-tenant platforms.
- Experience creating and enforcing Kubernetes/OpenShift Network Policies using default-deny and least-privilege principles.
- Experience with NexusOne or similar emerging platform technologies.
