Job description
The Academic Systems & Data Analyst I provides technical, functional, and analytical support for complex systems and compliance functions. This position supports the Banner self-services for students and faculty, including ongoing maintenance of training documentation and updates for the website. This position also performs compliance functions within the Office of the Registrar including: Grade/collection processes(University policy 2030.1.2) and student degree and enrollment data submissions to the NSLDS via the National Student Clearinghouse. Additionally, the position works to refine business processes with an emphasis on integrating technology to streamline processes and reduce manual entry, coordinates with other offices to ensure data integrity, document procedures, and support the efficient use of University resources., 35% Supports the Banner 9 self-services for students and faculty, Banner Admin Student module users, and other integrated self-service tools in the faculty and student WINGS menus. Tests all changes and updates to ensure smooth implementation of system updates, development, and deployment of of new applications and processes to support efficient use of university resources. Troubleshoots, researches, and resolves issues from campus users (students, faculty) related to Banner Admin and Banner self service systems, grade change system, student planner, and document management systems. Maintains user access, security roles, user groups for multiple academic systems. Assists with information sessions to support user groups.
25% Conducts end of term grading processes and communications. Provides functional assistance and technical expertise to Faculty and Departments throughout the grading process. Collaborates with Faculty and academic units to resolve ambiguous data and exceptions to policies. Uses independent and processional judgment to critically analyze issues and resolve inquiries regarding grading, academic policies, and precedents. Assures continuous quality management of data. Filters and scrubs data by scrutinizing reports and performance indicators to locate and correct coding problems. Monitors performance of daily processing during open grading period.
20% Compliance Reporting: Assists in NSC degree reporting and enrollment reporting. Assists with resolving manual entries to the degree files. Performs technical administrative functions including auditing/correcting student records and trouble shooting issues as they arise. Assists in the evaluation of student curriculum and degree requirements.
15% Assists in the development of processes and procedures to improve services and ensure security and accuracy. Supports online graduation application processes. Maintains cohort assignments for Wright Guarantee cohort process. Develops and implements strategy and timelines for task operations, implementations, and process improvements. Maintains data integrity of university data in multiple systems for daily operations, strategic analysis, and state reporting and compliance. Participates in the analysis and identification of current and future information needs, leveraging technology and best practices. Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd): 5% Other duties as assigned.
- Supports other areas of the Registrar's Office particularly during busy beginning of term and end of term periods and for special projects.
- Attends at least one commencement ceremony every fall and spring semester.
- Assists with Enrollment Management and Student Success events as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and three years of full-time related experience
- Knowledge of systems integration, data collection, auditing, and data analysis
- Demonstrated commitment to process improvement and documentation
- Strong communication skills with a professional and responsive approach
- Critical thinker with strong attention to detail
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, regulations, and rules using sound independent judgment
- Proficient with reporting tools, word-processing and spreadsheet software, andrelational database structure
- Able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a self-motivated, team-orientedwork ethic
- Willing to grow and develop technical skills needed to support an evolving systems environment, * Master's degree.
- Hands-on experience with Ellucian Banner Student Module or similar student information system.
- Prior experience using Oracle PL/SQL query language or similar database query tool.
- Expertise in performing data analysis using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in Higher Education environment.
