Job description
We're looking for a senior Voice & VoIP professional to support a large enterprise communications environment. While the title is System Architect, this is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, administering, maintaining, and improving Cisco-based Voice over IP infrastructure that supports critical business operations.
This is a remote opportunity for candidates who reside in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana. Occasional travel and participation in an on-call rotation are required.
What You'll Do
- Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Voice and VoIP systems.
- Support Cisco Unified Communications environments, including voice gateways, SIP trunks, and Session Border Controllers.
- Design and maintain LAN/WAN connectivity, VLANs, ACLs, IP addressing, routing, switching, and QoS to ensure reliable voice communications.
- Monitor system health, investigate alerts, resolve complex production issues, and coordinate with vendors when needed.
- Plan and implement upgrades, security patches, and configuration changes while minimizing service disruption.
- Develop network documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
- Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and support teams to maintain highly available communications systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide production support for critical systems.
Requirements
- Extensive experience supporting enterprise Cisco Voice and Unified Communications environments.
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, IP addressing, and network architecture.
- Experience with Cisco Voice Gateways, Session Border Controllers, and SIP trunk integration.
- Background in network monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, change management, and performance optimization.
- Comfortable working in complex enterprise environments with high availability requirements.
- Ability to create technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical teams and vendors.
