Job description

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking Cloud Software Engineers to support the research, design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of innovative cloud-based applications and distributed computing solutions. The ideal candidate will develop high-performance software leveraging modern cloud technologies, automation tools, and data platforms while supporting mission-critical environments. Opportunities are available for cloud engineers ranging from hands-on cloud application development to advanced cloud engineering supporting large-scale data processing, information retrieval, and cloud-native architectures., * Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.

  • Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance cloud-based applications and services.
  • Debug existing software and resolve defects to improve functionality and performance.
  • Integrate software into new systems, modified systems, and operating environments.
  • Design and implement database interfaces, data repositories, and complex query solutions.
  • Develop algorithms to meet system performance, scalability, and functional requirements.
  • Write and maintain software and system documentation.
  • Collaborate with users, system engineers, and stakeholders to analyze workflows, identify challenges, and develop effective software solutions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain high-performance cloud-native applications.
  • Utilize cloud technologies and tools including containerization, orchestration, serverless computing, data integration pipelines, provisioning automation, monitoring, and application management platforms.
  • Apply software development best practices, configuration management principles, and secure development methodologies.
  • Participate in testing, validation, integration, sustainment, and troubleshooting activities.

Additional Responsibilities - Level 2:

  • Apply Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) principles to automate software deployment and delivery processes.
  • Support cloud-based information retrieval and distributed computing solutions.
  • Contribute to large-scale Big Data cloud initiatives and advanced analytics environments.
  • Provide advanced expertise in cloud architecture, distributed systems, and scalable application development., Our salary ranges are based on the following key factors:

  • Location: Salary ranges may be adjusted based on geographic cost of living, in accordance with local and national standards.
  • Company Performance: Our compensation practices also take into account overall company performance and financial health, ensuring that we maintain sustainability while rewarding our team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • A Master's degree in a related discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
  • Four (4) additional years of cloud domain experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Industry certifications including Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer, CompTIA Cloud+, AWS, or Microsoft Azure certifications may be used toward experience requirements as allowed by labor category guidelines.
  • For Level 1: Four (4) years of relevant cloud domain experience.
  • For Level 2: Eight (8) years of relevant cloud domain experience.

Required Cloud Experience:

  • Experience developing software that interacts with Cloud Distributed File Systems.
  • Experience implementing solutions utilizing Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
  • Experience supporting distributed computing and data processing environments.
  • For Level 2: Additional experience supporting Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR) systems and Big Data cloud technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications in AWS, Azure, or similar cloud environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience supporting Big Data, distributed processing, MapReduce, or large-scale analytics platforms.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring, performance optimization, and application management tools., * U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
