Job description

The Graduate Student Events and Data Analyst supports Career Services through a combination of data analysis, research, event coordination, student engagement, and strategic projects. This role contributes to data initiatives across the office, including student outcomes, program and event data, student engagement, service utilization, and other projects that support data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

The position also supports the Career Services brand and campus presence by helping plan, promote, host, and evaluate student-facing events and collaborative programs. This role is ideal for a graduate student seeking practical experience in data analysis, research, event coordination, and professional communication while contributing to a student-centered Career Services mission., Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyze First Destination Survey (FDS) and other Career Services data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build reports for internal, college-level, and institutional stakeholders using metrics relevant to different audiences and departments.
  • Interpret findings and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support the development of dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Excel, and Google Workspace.
  • Explore relationships within datasets and contribute ideas for new reports, metrics, and analytical approaches.
  • Bring a student-centered perspective to how data is interpreted, communicated, and applied.

Data Collection and Research

  • Conduct research and collect data to support Career Services projects, programs, initiatives, and reporting needs.
  • Support the collection, validation, and enhancement of student outcomes data, including researching publicly available information in alignment with relevant NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) standards and best practices.
  • Assist with data collection related to student engagement, events, programs, services, employer engagement, and other office initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and clearly documented data records and project files.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data collection processes, response rates, data quality, and efficiency.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking and contribute to special data projects as the office needs evolve.

Events and Engagement Support

  • Assist in planning, promoting, coordinating, and executing Career Services events and initiatives, including career fairs, workshops, tabling events, campaigns, and collaborative programs.
  • Provide welcoming, professional, and positive customer service to students, employers, campus partners, and event attendees.
  • Serve as a peer educator by engaging with students and sharing information about Career Services resources, programs, events, and career development topics. Training and resources will be provided.
  • Support event logistics, including preparation, setup, attendee engagement, check-in, coordination, and follow-up.
  • Track participation and engagement data to help assess program reach and effectiveness.
  • Represent Career Services and its brand in a professional, positive, and student-centered manner.

Collaboration and Operations

  • Collaborate with student staff, professional team members, campus partners, and other stakeholders on programs, projects, events, and office priorities.
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally through written and verbal interactions with students, colleagues, employers, campus partners, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, active listening, sound judgment, and a positive approach to customer service and teamwork.
  • Support operational tasks and special projects that improve office organization, efficiency, and the student experience.
  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings and team check-ins to discuss priorities, progress, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled graduate student in good academic standing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Coachable and receptive to feedback, showing a willingness to learn, adapt, and apply guidance to improve performance, collaboration, and overall effectiveness in the role., * Enrolled in Data Analytics, Business, Information Science, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Tableau, SPSS, Power BI, SQL, or similar data and visualization tools.
  • Interest or experience in data analysis, research, event coordination, marketing, communications, or student engagement.
