As a Mid-Level Software Engineer/Computer Scientist, you will be responsible for advancing the state-of-the art in developing software prototypes and applications for the Army and the Department of War. You will work closely with subject matter experts to transition advanced algorithms into operational software prototypes. These prototypes will be tested in realistic environments to evaluate performance, reliability, and suitability for deployment within Army systems.
- Work across multiple technology stacks, gaining hands-on experience with various languages, frameworks, and tools to support a broad range of applications.
- Work in languages such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript and others.
- Work with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Mongo DB, Oracle, MySQL, and others
- Work with large software codebases reverse engineering and redesigning them.
- Building or consuming REST APIs and working with backend services or microservice architecture.
- Participate in software development using CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on security and automation.
- Collaborate with teams using version control systems like Azure, and work with automation tools
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to software architecture discussions to ensure maintainability, security, and performance.
- Stay current with software industry best practices, including use of AI in software development, cloud technologies, and evolving security threats to recommend innovative solutions.
Requirements

Active DoD Secret security clearance

BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field

Experience with one or more of the following: C++, Java, Python

3-5 years of progressive related experience

Experience with Test Driven Development

Experience with Unit/Integration Testing

Experience working with version control systems like Azure or Gitlab

Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and handling structured data (e.g., JSON, CSV)

Experience with Software Reverse Engineering

Experience with distributed simulation frameworks such as DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation), HLA (High Level Architecture), or similar Modeling & Simulation (M&S) standards

Experience with visualization tools such as CesiumJs or Unreal Engine.

Experience working with Agile, Agile XP, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies
