Job description

Brooksource is seeking an Associate Software Engineer I to join a high-impact, agile engineering team supporting a large-scale data and analytics organization. This team is responsible for building internal platforms that power customer analytics and business intelligence, developing and enhancing cloud-based data applications, and modernizing big data platforms. You will contribute to emerging AI-driven engineering initiatives and work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment that emphasizes mentorship, technical growth, and exposure to modern software development practices. This opportunity is ideal for early-career software engineers eager to grow their expertise in big data, cloud technologies, and AI-enabled development. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications supporting large-scale data and analytics platforms
  • Write SQL queries and backend code to support new features, application enhancements, and defect resolution
  • Assist in building and supporting data pipelines using technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and Airflow
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Support cloud-native application development utilizing AWS services and modern data platforms
  • Participate in AI and intelligent automation initiatives that enhance internal engineering capabilities
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement efforts

Requirements

  • Strong SQL fundamentals and experience querying relational databases
  • Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (Java, Python, or Scala)
  • Exposure to big data concepts or technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Airflow
  • Familiarity with relational databases including Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
  • Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms (preferred)
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and distributed data processing concepts
  • Curiosity and desire to learn emerging technologies, including cloud computing, AI, and machine learning
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in Agile teams and participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement
