Job description
The Senior Systems Engineer is a hands-on, operationally accountable role at the heart of Verifone's Americas IT Infrastructure team. You will serve as a key technical contributor to Verifone's VMware-to-KVM/CloudStack migration program and broader platform operations - bringing depth across Linux, Windows, storage, and DevOps tooling while operating within a PCI DSS environment., * Virtualization & Cloud Platform

Lead the design and execution of KVM/libvirt hypervisor deployments across US data centers.

Drive VMware-to-KVM/CloudStack workload migrations end-to-end, including planning, VM conversion, storage migration, and cutover coordination.

Administer CloudStack zones, clusters, templates, and storage pools; own VM lifecycle operations at scale.

Independently troubleshoot complex hypervisor, networking, and storage performance issues. DevOps Tooling & Automation

Own and maintain Ansible playbooks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and patching at scale.

Build and manage Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure-as-code workflows and automated deployments.

Lead adoption of Git-based IaC practices across the team and guide junior engineers' automation contributions.

Develop Python and Bash automation to reduce operational toil and improve consistency across environments. Windows & Linux Server Operations

Administer RHEL/Rocky/Ubuntu Linux and Windows Server environments - provisioning, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management.

Support Active Directory domain decommission and consolidation, including legacy Windows Server migration activities.

Enforce OS security baselines aligned to PCI DSS v4.0 and provide evidence for audit cycles.

Serve as Tier 3 escalation for OS-level incidents across Linux and Windows platforms. Storage

Manage SAN/NAS environments including LUN provisioning, zoning, multipath I/O, and iSCSI/FC configuration.

Support Pure Storage FlashArray and VMAX operations, migrations, and performance troubleshooting.

Integrate block and file storage with KVM/CloudStack primary and secondary storage pools. Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers; assist with onboarding and informal training.

Liaise with networking, security, and storage teams to coordinate complex cross-domain changes.

Participate in on-call rotation as a senior escalation resource.

Document runbooks, architecture decisions, and procedures in Confluence; manage work via ServiceNow and Jira.
Requirements
- 7+ years in enterprise systems engineering or IT infrastructure, with demonstrated scope expansion over time
- 4+ years of production KVM/libvirt hypervisor management
- Strong Linux administration - RHEL/Rocky/CentOS or Debian-based at scale
- Windows Server administration - Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, GPO, and domain lifecycle
- Ansible - authoring and maintaining playbooks for multi-environment configuration management
- Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD pipeline experience for infrastructure automation
- Scripting proficiency in Bash and Python
- SAN storage administration - LUN management, zoning, multipath I/O, iSCSI or Fibre Channel
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and guide technical work
- Experience working within PCI DSS or another regulated compliance framework, * CloudStack or OpenStack orchestration platform experience
- Prior VMware-to-KVM migration programme experience
- Pure Storage FlashArray or Dell EMC VMAX/PowerMax administration
- HPE Synergy or BladeSystem chassis operations
- RHCE, RHCSA, or equivalent Linux certification
- Git-based IaC workflow experience (Terraform, GitOps patterns)
- Exposure to SIEM/FIM tooling (Wazuh, Splunk, or similar)
