Job description
Western Industrial Contractors (WIC), a growing material handling design and construction company in Aurora, Colorado, is adding a Desktop Support Technician I to our IT team. You'll be part of the team supporting approximately 350 employees across office, engineering, shop, and field environments - keeping the people who build our projects up and running.
This role has real growth potential: WIC has a defined IT career path, and advancement is based on demonstrated skills and performance as the team and your capabilities grow. You'll work alongside an experienced technician, and the role reports to the Director of IT.
What You'll Do

Provide friendly, responsive front-line support for hardware, software, and account issues via our ticketing system and in person

Build, image, and deploy laptops for engineering, project management, field, shop, and office staff

Set up and support company iPhones, iPads, and mobile hotspots

Provision accounts and devices for new hires and support onboarding

Troubleshoot printers, plotters, monitors, docks, and peripherals

Support field personnel remotely with device and connectivity issues

Track hardware inventory and handle warranty repair cases

Provide basic training and guidance to users on hardware, software, and company systems

Document solutions and contribute to our knowledge base and standard operating procedures

Requirements
Microsoft 365 and Windows 11 in a hybrid Entra ID / Active Directory environment

Microsoft Intune for device deployment and management

Autodesk products (Inventor, Navisworks, AutoCAD) - installation and basic troubleshooting

Trimble Viewpoint Vista ERP - user setup and basic troubleshooting

8x8 VoIP phone system - handset setup

Zoho Desk ticketing, Dell hardware and ProSupport, Sophos wireless
What We're Looking For

1+ years of IT support experience, or equivalent education / certification (CompTIA A+ or similar)

Solid Windows troubleshooting fundamentals and comfort with hardware repair and builds

Clear, patient communication with users of all technical levels - in person, on the phone, and over video

Reliability, follow-through, and honest documentation of your work

Discretion, confidentiality, and good judgment in handling sensitive information and systems

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

Curiosity and initiative - you notice recurring problems and want to fix the cause, not just the symptom
Nice to Have

Exposure to Intune, Entra ID, or Active Directory administration

Experience supporting CAD/engineering or construction-industry users
-
Apple device management experience (iPhone/iPad)
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (laptops, monitors, printers, plotter supplies)

Ability to work under desks, in server/equipment areas, and on ladders as needed

Regular walking between office, shop, and warehouse areas
