Job description

Both are 12-month contract positions working a regular business week, hybrid home/office with 3 of 4 days Mon-Thr in office and Fri work from home. Occasionally, based on need, could be up to 5 days in office.

As a Product Owner in our Transformation Office, you will be the voice of the business and the customer directly to the engineering team.

Reporting to a Product Manager, you will be responsible for translating their strategic product roadmap into a detailed, actionable backlog of user stories.

You are the master of the team backlog, ensuring the development team has the clarity and context they need to build the right features at the right time.

This is a role for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual who thrives on turning vision into reality. You will live and breathe the Agile process, working daily with your development team to deliver value, sprint after sprint.

What You'll Do

Backlog Management & Prioritization Own and Manage the Team Backlog: Act as the sole owner of the team's backlog, ensuring it is visible, transparent, and clearly communicated to all.

Lead Collaborative Story Definition: Lead the translation of roadmap features into well-defined user stories by facilitating a collaborative authoring process with Business Analysts, testers, and the development team. While the entire team contributes to the definition, you are ultimately accountable for the final clarity, readiness, and acceptance criteria of each story.

Prioritize for Value: Continuously prioritize the backlog based on business value, user needs, and strategic direction provided by the Product Manager. Maintain Backlog Health: Lead backlog grooming sessions to ensure stories are "ready" for development, keeping a healthy buffer of work prepared for upcoming sprints.

Sprint Execution & Team Collaboration Act as the Dedicated Point-of-Contact: Serve as the primary liaison for the development team, answering questions and providing clarification on requirements throughout the sprint.

Drive Sprint Ceremonies: Actively participate in and often lead key Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.

Collaborate on Requirements: Work closely with the Product Manager, business stakeholders, and end-users to gather requirements and ensure a deep understanding of the "why" behind each story.

Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Plan and lead UAT sessions with business users to validate that completed features meet their needs and deliver the intended value.

Accept Completed Work: Be accountable for accepting completed user stories, verifying that they meet the acceptance criteria and deliver the intended business value.

Support Business Readiness: Partner with the Change Management and Training teams by providing subject matter expertise on new features to support the creation of effective training materials.

Requirements

You have 2-4+ years of experience in a Product Owner role within an Agile/Scrum environment.

An Expert in Execution: You have deep expertise in writing clear user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and managing a product backlog.

A Master Communicator: You are an exceptional communicator who can articulate complex requirements to a technical team and demonstrate delivered value to business stakeholders.

Detail-Oriented and Organized: You have a keen eye for detail and are passionate about keeping things organized, from the backlog to requirement documents.

A True Team Player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and are skilled at building strong relationships with developers, designers, and your Product Manager.

Technically Conversant: You are comfortable discussing technical concepts with engineers and can help translate business needs into technical realities.

Certified (Preferred): A Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification is a strong plus.

SQL or Finance systems experience: one of these needs 1 year of SQL experience while the other needs 1 year of Financial systems experience.

Benefits & conditions

How Success Will Be Measured Backlog Health & Readiness: Your team backlog is consistently well-groomed, prioritized, and contains a ready supply of high-quality user stories for the development team.

Team Velocity & Predictability: Your clarity and preparation contribute to a healthy and predictable team velocity, enabling reliable forecasting.

Quality of Delivery: The features delivered by your team consistently meet the defined acceptance criteria and the underlying business intent.

Team & Stakeholder Feedback: Your development team feels they have the clarity and support they need to succeed, and your Product Manager has high confidence in your ability to execute their vision.

Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour
