Job description

  • Develop, test, and maintain backend software applications using Python.
  • Design and integrate APIs between software components and external systems.
  • Connect distributed services using messaging queues such as RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka, or similar tools.
  • Build and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues across services, APIs, containers, and messaging layers.
  • Participate in Agile planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Break down technical work into clear tasks and help track progress toward sprint and release goals.
  • Write automated tests and support CI/CD, code reviews, and software quality practices.
  • Document designs, interfaces, workflows, and operational considerations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product owners, customers, and stakeholders to turn requirements into working software.
  • Contribute to architecture, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and developer experience improvements.
  • Mentor junior developers or provide technical guidance when needed.

Requirements

Jacobs/BlackLynx is seeking a Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience in designing, building, integrating, and supporting mission-focused software systems. This role is primarily hands-on backend software development, with opportunities to contribute to architecture, Agile delivery, DevSecOps practices, and technical leadership.

The ideal candidate has strong Python experience, understands object-oriented design, and is comfortable working with APIs, containers, messaging queues, and distributed systems. Experience with aerospace, defense, modeling and simulation, or mission-planning systems is a plus., * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong Python development experience.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and software design.
  • Experience building or consuming APIs.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or container orchestration.
  • Experience with messaging queues or event-driven systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AWS cloud services, relational and NoSQL databases, Redis or similar caching technologies, and scalable data management solutions within distributed application environments.

Posted Salary Range: Upper 140,000.00
