Job description
This position is for a Build Engineer with strong to expert-level skills in infrastructure platforms. The role involves working on large, complex IT projects and requires experience in building, automating, and supporting advanced infrastructure engineering platforms. The engineer will work with design engineers to translate architectural designs into buildable action items for the core infrastructure, focusing on network, storage, and compute services., * Execute, test, track, and deliver new server builds, building servers at each layer of the stack on industry-standard operating systems.
- Provide technical leadership and coordination for the build and implementation of infrastructure.
- Coordinate technical experts to complete work and translate design details for technical teams.
- Bridge the gap between design architecture and implementation by breaking down technology solution stacks into buildable actions.
- Work alongside Windows/Linux and Network engineering teams to build OS patterns and network infrastructure.
- Build and maintain products in new and legacy data centers.
- Develop scripts and tooling for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and troubleshooting.
- Problem-solve and switch tasks as needed in a mission-critical environment.
Requirements
- Experience building highly available servers from end to end.
- A strong understanding of the end-to-end stack, including tools and agents.
- Experience with build/installation of networking, micro-segmentation, storage replication, and security concepts.
- Experience working with teams to implement designs and translate technical details.
Technical Skills:
- Skills in infrastructure platforms such as RHEL, AIX, and Windows Systems.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools like Ansible, Ansible Tower, and VMware (VRO/VRA).
- Familiarity with virtualization, containerization, and Cisco networking (including Cisco ACI).
- Knowledge of storage (EMC/Hitachi) and network technologies (Cisco firewalls/routers/switches).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SAFe/Agile best practices.
- Experience with IBM AIX, Linux, Websphere, and Oracle.
- Ability to train new resources.
Work Environment
The role is part of a direct team of 15-20 members and a larger matrixed team. The position requires the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical experts, produce clear status reports for technical and leadership audiences, and influence outcomes to achieve desired results. The engineer will lead and provide direction to other engineers and technical experts.
