Job description
The Full Stack Software Engineer position works within the Application Development & Support team to provide software programming for new software, production support and maintenance for existing software, as well as ad-hoc support of key departmental business areas, databases, applications, and tools which drive business functions. The Full Stack Software Engineer works under minimal supervision, receiving general instruction from management or lead software engineers., * Develops software at all layers by designing, implementing and testing code to meet requirements.
- Gains a thorough understanding of functional requirements for new software requests.
- Works with Business Systems Analysts to understand and clarify software requirements and translate into working software.
- Practices good software engineering techniques and standards to reduce coding errors and ensures robustness and efficiency of work products.
- Works to identify and resolve technical or product problems.
- Maintains existing applications by enhancing software and troubleshooting issues.
- Collaborates with team members and partners with others as needed to ensure successful completion of assigned software development tasks.
- Participates in code reviews and incorporates recommendations.
- Applies Object Oriented Design principles and design patterns in creating System level solution designs.
- Creates and maintains software design specifications document.
- Communicates and presents designs in group settings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related fields from accredited two-year university. 4+ years' related software development experience.
Computer Skills
- Hands-on experience with Python and Java 21+.
- Experience with API/microservices and event-driven architecture, object-oriented design and programming, and API Gateways (Gravitee a plus). Experience with ActiveMQ or Apache Kafka a plus.
- Hands-on experience with web application development frameworks, such as Angular (or React), JavaScript, FastAPI/Flask, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate/JPA.
- Experience using Redis for caching and session storage, including common data structures, TTL/eviction policies, and basic Pub/Sub messaging.
- Hands-on experience with RDBMS products (PostgreSQL, Oracle 19C+, etc.) and SQL programming language.
- Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux, Jenkins/Argo CD, Kubernetes.
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle: analysis, design, development, implementation, and verification.
- Experience with Agile software development and JIRA/Confluence.

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on project teams and/or matrix-managed teams.
- Ability to appropriately schedule and prioritize multiple projects to ensure timely and effective delivery of IT solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with emphasis on translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with PBM business model (plans, programs, and practices) as well as pharmaceutical practices (nomenclature, medications) is a big plus.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply the quantitative reasoning required for software development, including working with algorithms, data structures, and basic performance and statistical metrics.

Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, requirements, and design specifications. Ability to write clear technical and routine business correspondence, and to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Benefits & conditions
This is a full-time non-exempt position requiring one to be able to work overtime from time to time to get the job done. Therefore, one must have the ability to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. This may be changed at any time to meet the needs of the business. The typical working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

This position requires no travel, however attendance maybe required at various local conferences and meetings
