Job description

PURPOSE: The Systems Administrator position installs, modifies and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, as well as provides technical advice and support to system users. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure., * Engineering of Systems Administrated related solutions for various project and operational needs

  • Installs new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Installs and configures systems such as supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications
  • Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures
  • Contributes to and maintains system standards
  • Researches and recommends innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Creates, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Provides Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Repairs and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
  • Applies OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Upgrades and configure system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs
  • Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Develop and Integrate data storage solutions (SQL, PHP)
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality and responsiveness of applications
  • Works as part of a team to design, build, test, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
  • Supports standard system processes and enhancements to systems
  • Microsoft SharePoint Online

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field
  • Understand critical compliance requirements in manufacturing/defense industry CMMC, DFARS, NIST
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft preferred but not required
  • Excellent Problem Solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

DESIRED:

  • Exposure to or an understanding of MES (Manufacturing Execution Software) and API's (Application Processor Interface)
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or other BI/analytics tools, including experience integrating them into custom web applications
  • Experience with Power BI
