Job description

iSphere is looking for a Senior F5 Network Engineer to support a large enterprise environment in Houston. This is a hybrid position requiring four days onsite and one day remote each week. Candidates must currently live in the Houston area.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, implementing, upgrading, and supporting enterprise F5 BIG-IP environments. The selected engineer will be responsible for application delivery, load balancing, security, high availability, and complex Layer 4 through Layer 7 network troubleshooting.

This is not an operations or administrator position. We need an experienced F5 engineer who has led enterprise implementations, migrations, upgrades, and modernization efforts within mission-critical production environments.

The Senior F5 Network Engineer will work extensively with BIG-IP LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM or Advanced WAF, and BIG-IQ. This person will create and maintain virtual servers, pools, nodes, health monitors, SSL profiles, and Wide IPs while developing and troubleshooting complex F5 iRules.

The engineer will also plan and execute BIG-IP platform upgrades and migrations, configure highly available F5 environments, troubleshoot application-delivery issues, and partner with application, infrastructure, networking, and Information Security teams. Responsibilities will include SSL offloading, web application firewall support, blocking malicious traffic, and maintaining secure and reliable application delivery.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of enterprise network engineering experience

  • At least 5 years of hands-on F5 BIG-IP engineering experience

  • Strong experience with BIG-IP LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM or Advanced WAF, and BIG-IQ

  • Experience creating and maintaining virtual servers, pools, nodes, health monitors, SSL profiles, and Wide IPs

  • Advanced experience writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting F5 iRules

  • Experience planning and executing BIG-IP upgrades, migrations, and enterprise implementations

  • Strong experience configuring and supporting high-availability environments

  • Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise production systems

  • Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking

  • Experience with SSL offloading, web application firewalls, application security, malicious traffic blocking, and secure application delivery

Experience with Cisco Nexus, Cisco Prime, Cisco UCS, Cisco AnyConnect, Aruba, A10, Citrix NetScaler, AppViewX, Venafi, Active Directory, or automation using Ansible, PowerShell, and Linux shell scripting would be beneficial.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level engineer who can take ownership of complex F5 environments, lead major platform changes, troubleshoot difficult production issues, and work effectively across networking, security, infrastructure, and application teams.
