Job description
Wing is looking for a Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation Engineer to join our Simulation team. This role is hybrid based in Palo Alto, CA.
Simulation is a core technology for Wing. We provide essential tools for R&D and are critical to ensuring the reliability of our fleet of autonomous aircraft. The simulation team's work spans vehicle physics and sensor modeling, large-scale simulation frameworks, test infrastructure for backend verification and integrated avionics and system testing. As our fleet and operational complexity continue to grow, we are establishing a dedicated team to own the next generation of our software-on-hardware testing infrastructure.
The Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation Engineer will develop and maintain Wing's HIL platforms, implementing features and driving infrastructure reliability to meet future scale. You will be instrumental in transitioning HIL to a scalable, modular infrastructure approach, building and monitoring automated software-on-hardware tests that are key to accelerating Wing's R&D.
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop and maintain Wing's HIL infrastructure for hardware and software integration and validation, with a focus on the embedded systems components and their seamless integration with hardware.
- Ensure HIL availability, reliability and scale through both embedded development efforts and cross-functional workstreams.
- Lead investigations into HIL test results, identify and analyze anomalies or failures, and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve issues.
- Build new test platforms and hardware fixtures to expand the software on hardware testing across systems.
- Build continuous tests for Wing's perception systems, including static camera and dynamic robotic testing.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience developing and designing autonomous systems; including 3+ years of developing embedded test infrastructure.
- B.S or M.S degree or equivalent practical experience in Electrical/Embedded/Computer Hardware/Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Proficient programming with C/C++ and Python in a Linux environment.
- Hands-on experience with embedded operating systems and their integration within HIL setups.
- In-depth knowledge of hardware communication protocols and experience interfacing with sensors, actuators, and other hardware components.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams, including hardware engineers, software engineers, and test engineers.
- Experience with perception hardware systems, and the integration of such systems within HIL.
