Software Design Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Software Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team supporting the design and development of next-generation software systems. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer with strong Java development expertise, software architecture experience, and a passion for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)., * Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java and web-based applications.

• Lead software architecture, technical design, and code reviews across the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define system requirements and deliver scalable software solutions.
• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies to ensure software quality and maintainability.
• Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, including UML and SysML, to support system design and documentation.
• Work with engineering teams to integrate AI-driven approaches into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and support project planning, risk management, and technical decision-making.
• Communicate project status, schedules, risks, and technical solutions with internal stakeholders and customers.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java and web-based application development.
• Experience serving in a software architecture or technical leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), UML, and SysML.
• Experience working with database management systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler (No Magic) or similar MBSE tools.
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• Experience incorporating AI tools or practices into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience leading software engineering teams and mentoring developers.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
