Job description

Kforce has a client in Durham, NC that is seeking a FS Java Restful API., * Own end-to-end technical delivery of MACAR modernization workstreams: ingestion, calculation, reporting, and API layers

  • Drive architecture decisions (ADRs) for service decomposition, data access patterns, and API contracts
  • Design and build RESTful services and Angular-based UIs that serve operations, business partners, and downstream consumers
  • Establish engineering standards: code quality, testing strategy, CI/CD patterns, observability
  • Develop Java-based microservices for calculation engines, data access routines, and business logic
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs that serve attribution analytics, reporting, and PADDS backward-compatibility layers
  • Contribute to Angular front-end components for ops self-service, dynamic views, and configuration management
  • Design for performance at scale: batch and near-real-time processing of large financial datasets
  • Partner with Product Owner and Business Partners (OPS, RM) to translate domain requirements into technical solutions
  • Work across squads to resolve cross-cutting concerns: data contracts, shared libraries, integration patterns
  • Participate in architecture review boards, sprint reviews, and PI planning
  • Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor mid-level and senior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions
  • Champion test-driven development, automated testing (unit, integration, contract), and production readiness
  • Drive down tech debt deliberately - identify, quantify, and propose resolution paths

Requirements

  • 10+ years hands-on Java development; deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, or similar frameworks
  • 3+ years Angular (v12+); component architecture, RxJS, state management, responsive design
  • Strong grasp of concurrency, memory management, and JVM tuning
  • Proven track record designing, building, and versioning RESTful services at scale. API-first design, OpenAPI/Swagger, contract testing, pagination, error handling patterns
  • Ability to build ops-facing tools with usability focus
  • Experience with batch processing frameworks (Spring Batch, custom schedulers)
  • SQL proficiency; Comfort with large relational datasets; Bonus: time-series or financial data experience
  • Practical experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, ECS/EKS, RDS, Lambda); Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation) awareness
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, containerization (Docker), deployment automation; Observability: logging, metrics, alerting (CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; Ability to explain complex technical concepts to business partners, architects, and leadership
  • Collaborative mindset; Thrives in cross-functional teams; Comfortable giving and receiving feedback; Elevates the team, not just individual output

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
