We have a highly engaged team of engineers and are driving a new custom developed platform and implementing automated testing on all newly developed projects. We are looking for people who have a passion for development and leading teams., The Software Engineer II will be responsible for all software aspects within the team including research, design, technology insertion, development, testing, and support.
- Partner with architects and solution engineers to design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Oversee proactive maintenance on our existing Iaas/SaaS and on-premises applications within the Digital, Cards, Risk, and Merchant Services to ensure our mission critical systems remain stable, are able to scale as our business grows, and remain fit-for-purpose.
- Coordinate and assist with troubleshooting of code defects, data errors and configuration problems to determine the origin of application errors.
- Know how to support Business critical/ complex applications.
- Exercises Judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Drive departmental best practices, guidelines implementation and adhere to standards.
- Show expertise in designing and developing real-time integrations, file-based integrations, and be able to optimize the use of database level processing.
- Demonstrate empathy with developers and poses an innate desire to create a superlative developer experience down to the last detail.
- Have a deep love of building elegant, maintainable, well-documented, secure code.
- Always work to improve oneself and constructively support the team around them.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a seasoned software developer with a history of operating in large enterprise environment. Banking experience is preferred, but not necessary. This individual would have tangible examples of how they have led development teams to successful deployments, coached and mentored junior developers, and have contributed to enterprise level design of a system(s). They will also be able to clearly communicate and express complex ideas not only with development team members, but also business product owners, while establishing a working relationship built on trust through delivery., Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance, * Current contractor/contingent worker for First Citizens Bank
- Knowledge of First Citizens Bank systems and processes
- 3+ years of back-end microservices focused development experience
- Knowledge and experience with Java 11+
- Knowledge and experience with Standard Design Patterns such as Factories, Command, Facade, Adapter, and more
- Knowledge and experience with OOD/OOA
- Knowledge and experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
- Knowledge and experience with REST and APIs
- Knowledge and experience with Unit Test and Mocking frameworks
- Knowledge and experience with git
- Basic knowledge and experience with Postman
- Basic knowledge of messaging queues (Kafka), caching techniques and elastic search
- Basic knowledge and experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Basic knowledge and experience with Scrum and Agile
- Basic knowledge and experience with wikis
Preferred Experience:
- Automation Testing

- Gitlab Pipeline Development
- Experience leading development teams
Benefits & conditions
The base pay for this position is generally between $105,000 and $145,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
