Job description

The Network Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of secure enterprise network infrastructure across large-scale Department of Defense (DoD) environments. This role bridges architectural design and hands-on engineering by translating high-level network strategies into deployable solutions while actively building, securing, and troubleshooting complex networks. The position focuses heavily on Zero Trust architecture, including endpoint compliance (Comply to Connect / C2C), network access control (NAC), and application micro-segmentation using tools such as Cisco Secure Workload. The engineer will play a key role in enforcing secure, policy-driven access, improving application visibility, and protecting data flows across globally distributed and hybrid cloud environments., * Translate architectural designs into engineering plans, configurations, and deployment strategies

  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Implement and maintain Zero Trust security frameworks, including:
  • Endpoint compliance and device authentication (C2C)
  • Network access control (NAC)
  • Micro-segmentation and workload protection (Cisco Secure Workload)
  • Engineer and support Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions, including Cisco ACI
  • Develop and enforce secure application data flows across data centers and multi-cloud environments
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across network layers, including routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
  • Ensure all configurations meet DoD STIG and RMF compliance standards
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and cloud teams to ensure secure integration across environments
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, data flows, and SOPs
  • Evaluate and test new technologies, firmware, and security updates prior to deployment

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification
  • CCNA or CCNP certification (CCNP preferred for senior candidates)
  • Minimum years of experience based on education:
  • 12 years (HS), 10 (Associate), 8 (Bachelor's), 6 (Master's), 3 (PhD)
  • Strong experience with:
  • Enterprise Cisco networking (routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Network security and Zero Trust concepts
  • Troubleshooting complex network environments
  • Experience working in DoD or government network environments

Desired Qualifications

  • DoD 8140 compliance (Work Role Code 441 - Network Operations Specialist)
  • CCNP or CCIE certification
  • Experience with Cisco ACI (SDN) or SD-WAN technologies
  • Experience with Cisco Secure Workload or similar micro-segmentation tools
  • Hands-on experience with Comply to Connect (C2C) or NAC solutions
  • Background in network automation (Python, Ansible, REST APIs) Experience leading or supporting large-scale network deployments
