Technical Specialist - Senior - High

we are a Tier 1 vendor for the City and County of San Francisco for Cloud Services, Staffing Services and Training Services. For this multi-year opportunity with a diverse set of needs to address, we are currently focusing on establishing partnerships with individuals as well as companies who can help us enhance our overall service portfolio, cut lead times, and ultimately help us deliver successfully. We currently hold sizable Government accounts in the San Francisco bay area including City and County of San Francisco, San Mateo County, and Santa Clara County. Roles/Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend applications and services using Java, Python, and Perl
• Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration points with internal and external systems
• Modernize and refactor existing Perl-based or legacy applications into modern architectures
• Create automation scripts, system tools, and scheduled jobs to support IT operations
• Write clean, efficient, and scalable code following best practices and coding standards
• Design and implement SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflows
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and sprint planning
• Debug and resolvecomplex issues across multiple languages and platforms
• Deploy applications to cloud or on premise environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Linux/Unix)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
• Maintain documentation for systems, integrations, and processes

1. Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Maven) - 7 years
2. Proficiency in Python - 7 years
3. Solid understanding of REST APIs, backend architecture, and microservices- 7 years
4. Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres) - 7 years
5. Experience with Git/Subversion, Linux/Unix environments, and version-controlled development
6. Strong problem solving and debugging skills across languages and environments
7. Senior level experience writing optimized SQL queries and analyzing existing SQL queries for performance improvements - 5 years

Desirable Skills:

1. Hands-on experience with Perl for scripting, system utilities, or legacy app maintenance - 3 years
2. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) - 3 years
3. Experience with ETL, data pipelines, or batch processing- 3 years
4. Experience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines
5. Familiarity with legacy system migration projects- Preferred - 5 years
