Job description
We are seeking an experienced WordPress to Shopify Migration Specialist to lead the migration of an existing WordPress/WooCommerce website to Shopify. The ideal candidate will have completed similar migrations and possess strong knowledge of the dos, don ts, risks, limitations, and best practices involved in moving e-commerce data, functionality, content, integrations, and SEO configurations to Shopify.
The specialist will be responsible for delivering a secure, accurate, and low-risk migration with minimal disruption to customers and business operations., * Assess the existing WordPress/WooCommerce website, including products, customers, orders, content, plugins, themes, integrations, and custom functionality.
- Develop a migration plan covering scope, dependencies, risks, timeline, testing, cutover, rollback, and post-launch support.
- Migrate products, SKUs, variants, prices, inventory, images, categories, customers, historical orders, pages, blogs, and media.
- Map WooCommerce data structures to Shopify products, variants, collections, metafields, and metaobjects.
- Configure Shopify payments, shipping, taxes, discounts, customer accounts, notifications, inventory locations, and checkout settings.
- Customize or configure a responsive Shopify theme using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Evaluate WordPress plugins and determine whether they should be replaced with Shopify-native functionality, Shopify applications, custom development, or revised business processes.
- Migrate or replace integrations involving ERP, CRM, PIM, fulfillment, shipping, tax, email marketing, analytics, loyalty, reviews, subscriptions, and payment platforms.
- Preserve SEO metadata, high-value content, internal links, structured data, image alt text, and page hierarchy.
- Create, implement, and test 301 redirects from existing WordPress URLs to Shopify URLs.
- Perform data reconciliation and document migrated, rejected, duplicate, and exception records.
- Test customer registration, product search, cart, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping, discounts, refunds, order notifications, integrations, analytics, and mobile responsiveness.
- Manage production cutover, domain and DNS changes, final data migration, launch validation, and post-launch stabilization.
- Provide technical documentation, administrator training, and knowledge transfer.
Migration Best Practices
The selected candidate must:
- Complete a full inventory of WordPress data, plugins, URLs, integrations, and custom functionality before migration.
- Clean and standardize source data before loading it into Shopify.
- Perform trial migrations and maintain complete WordPress backups.
- Define a data-freeze or incremental migration strategy.
- Reconcile products, customers, orders, inventory, prices, discounts, taxes, and content.
- Test all business-critical scenarios before launch.
- Preserve SEO value through accurate URL mapping and redirects.
- Minimize unnecessary Shopify applications and custom development.
- Maintain a rollback plan and retain the WordPress environment during stabilization.
The candidate must not assume that all WordPress plugins, customer passwords, custom functionality, or historical order details can be migrated directly. Automated migration tools must not be used without reconciliation, exception handling, and manual validation., Expected Deliverables

Requirements
- Proven experience migrating WordPress or WooCommerce websites to Shopify.
- Strong knowledge of WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, and Shopify administration.
- Experience with Shopify products, collections, variants, metafields, customers, orders, inventory, discounts, and fulfillment.
- Experience with Shopify import tools, APIs, webhooks, and bulk data-processing methods.
- Proficiency in Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, REST APIs, and GraphQL.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce SEO, URL redirects, analytics, performance, and accessibility.
- Experience integrating payment, shipping, tax, ERP, CRM, marketing, and fulfillment platforms.
- Strong data-validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder-communication skills., * Shopify Partner, Shopify Developer, or Shopify Plus experience.
- Experience with large product catalogs, complex variants, subscriptions, bundles, international commerce, multi-currency, and multi-language stores.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, advertising pixels, and consent-management platforms.
