Job description

  • bringing in a lead to help hold the implementation vendor accountable for the best practices for replacing their MuleSoft integration layer with a new integration layer built on an endpoint to endpoint API architecture built in JavaScript
  • will be building both REST & event-driven API's based on the architectural designs from the architecture team & senior director of enterprise architecture
  • this person does not need to have experience with MuleSoft as they will be focused on building out the future state of their integration layer
  • must know best practices for endpoint to endpoint API development to help hold their implementation partner accountable

Interview process: starting 7/13/2026

  • 1st round on video with Director | 30 to 45 minutes - technical round
  • 2nd round in-person with (product director), (enterprise architect), and (senior Javascript developer)

We are seeking a Lead Integration Engineer (Node.js / Azure) to play a critical role in a large-scale enterprise integration modernization initiative. This individual will serve as a hands-on technical leader, responsible for designing and delivering cloud-native integration solutions while partnering closely with architects, business stakeholders, and implementation vendors.

The ideal candidate has strong experience building enterprise APIs and integrations, a cloud-first mindset, and a passion for driving modern engineering practices. Responsibilities:

  • Engineering & Solution Delivery
  • Design and build scalable, cloud-native integration services using Node.js and TypeScript
  • Develop and maintain APIs (REST and event-driven) and system integrations
  • Implement solutions leveraging Azure services, including:
  • Azure Functions (serverless)
  • Azure Container Apps / Kubernetes
  • Azure API Management
  • Azure Service Bus / Event Grid
  • Ensure code quality through testing, standards, and best practices
  • Validate vendor-delivered code and ensure alignment with internal standards
  • Architecture & Design Leadership

Lead Integration Engineer (Node.js / Azure):

  • Partner with enterprise architects to define integration patterns, API standards, and eventdriven architectures
  • Contribute to the design of the target integration platform
  • Identify opportunities to improve scalability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Drive adoption of modern integration patterns (eventing, microservices, API-first)
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Architects, Business Analysts, Product owners, and External delivery partners
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Facilitate discussions on feasibility, tradeoffs, and innovation
  • Help bridge communication between technical and business teams

Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Act as a technical leader within the engineering organization
  • Mentor and coach developers on modern integration development, cloud-native practices,
  • and API design principles
  • Provide code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
  • Help build long-term internal integration capability
  • AI-Enabled Engineering

Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve:

  • development velocity
  • code quality
  • testing and validation
  • Identify and apply AI-assisted approaches across the integration lifecycle

Requirements

Years of Experience Minimum: 8+ years Must have:

  • Vanilla JavaScript
  • enterprise integration project experience
  • mentorship of junior developers

Nice to Have:

  • NodeJS, TypeScript
  • implementation vendor experience, * 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript and Backend frameworks (e.g., Fastify,
  • Express, NestJS)
  • Proven experience building enterprise APIs and system-to-system integrations
  • Experience with event-driven architectures like messaging, queues, pub/sub

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including:

  • serverless (Azure Functions)
  • containers (Container Apps, AKS, Docker)
  • API Management / gateways
  • messaging (Service Bus, Event Grid)
  • Experience developing cloud-native distributed systems
  • Familiarity with API gateways, routing, and policy enforcement
  • Experience working with enterprise integration platforms like MuleSoft, TIBCO, or similar

Strong understanding of:

  • API design (REST, OpenAPI)
  • data transformation patterns
  • resiliency and error handling
  • retry/fallback strategies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders and lead technical discussions confidently
  • Experience influencing architecture decisions and delivery approach
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with additional languages:

  • Experience with large-scale migration or modernization programs
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and domain-driven design (DDD)
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools

Education, Certifications & Training:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Microsoft Azure certifications, such as:

  • AZ-204: Azure Developer Associate
  • AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Certification in API or integration platforms (optional but beneficial)

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning in:

  • cloud technologies
