Job description
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare IT Infrastructure & Systems Administrator to lead the administration, security, reliability, and performance of our healthcare technology environment. This role is responsible for ensuring our systems, applications, and infrastructure support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted clinical operations.
The Healthcare IT Infrastructure & Systems Administrator will oversee the organization's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, Google Workspace environment, network infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, data protection processes, and technology vendor relationships. This position serves as the technical leader for complex infrastructure, security, and systems administration needs while partnering with the Help Desk & Desktop Support Technician for day-to-day support and escalation management.

- Administer and maintain the organization's EMR system and integrated clinical applications.
- Manage Google Workspace, including Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Admin Console, user accounts, security settings, organizational units, and mobile device management.
- Maintain and optimize network infrastructure, including servers, wireless networks, internet connectivity, firewalls, VPNs, backups, and business continuity systems.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate system upgrades, software updates, and infrastructure enhancements.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure protection of patient health information and compliance with HIPAA security requirements.
- Monitor security alerts, user access permissions, authentication methods, and data protection practices.
- Oversee backup processes, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity procedures.
- Support ongoing security reviews, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives.
Technical Leadership & Support
- Serve as the escalation point for advanced technical issues requiring deeper troubleshooting.
- Provide expertise related to infrastructure, networking, EMR systems, and security.
- Develop and maintain IT documentation, standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Partner with the Help Desk & Desktop Support Technician to ensure effective resolution of user technology needs.
Vendor & Project Management
- Serve as the primary technical contact for technology vendors, software providers, internet providers, and EMR support teams.
- Coordinate technology implementations, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
- Manage software licensing, technology contracts, and vendor relationships.
- Assist leadership with technology budgeting, planning, and future growth initiatives.
Operational Technology Support
- Ensure technology systems maintain high availability and support daily clinic operations.
- Provide technology planning support for future clinic growth, new locations, and equipment needs.
- Provide advanced technical support while ensuring routine requests are appropriately managed through help desk processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of systems administration experience.
- Experience administering Google Workspace environments.
- Experience supporting EMR/EHR systems in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, VLANs, and firewalls.
- Experience supporting Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection principles.
- Understanding of HIPAA security and privacy requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, organization, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting healthcare organizations, medical clinics, or other regulated environments.
- Google Workspace Professional Administrator Certification.
- CompTIA Security+ certification.
- CISSP or other cybersecurity certification.
- Experience managing cloud-based environments and endpoint management solutions.
Schedule
Full-time position with a primary schedule of Monday-Friday during clinic operating hours. Occasional evening or weekend maintenance may be required for system upgrades, security updates, or planned technology projects.
