Job description

Noblis MSD is seeking a Software DevOps Engineer to support a large-scale software project for U.S. Navy programs. This is a fully onsite position based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

Noblis MSD supports Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) by providing software development, engineering, systems integration, cybersecurity, logistics, and life-cycle support to Navy programs.

The Software DevOps Developer will work with software developers, testers, cybersecurity personnel, and program stakeholders to support software development tools, automation, build pipelines, testing pipelines, and development environments. This role helps the team build, test, scan, package, and deliver software in an organized and repeatable way.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for software build, test, scan, and deployment activities
  • Automate software development workflows using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar tools
  • Support Git-based development platforms such as GitLab, GitHub, or similar systems
  • Help manage repositories, branches, merge requests, pipeline settings, and development workflow tools
  • Support developer tools such as Jira, GitLab, SonarQube, documentation platforms, and similar tools
  • Assist with automated code quality checks, dependency scanning, security scanning, and test reporting
  • Support containerized or virtualized development environments when needed
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, tool issues, environment problems, and automation errors
  • Help improve developer productivity through automation, tool improvements, and clear documentation
  • Support software release preparation by helping ensure builds, scans, test results, and artifacts are available and organized
  • Monitor and maintain development tool health, availability, and performance
  • Work collaboratively with software developers, testers, cybersecurity personnel, and program stakeholders
  • Document tool usage, pipeline steps, automation scripts, and support procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience supporting DevOps, CI/CD, software development tools, or software automation in a development environment
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows
  • Experience with automation scripting using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with software build, test, scan, and deployment workflows
  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Experience troubleshooting pipeline, tool, script, or development environment issues

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale software projects
  • Experience supporting Java-based software development environments
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD administration or pipeline development
  • Experience with GitLab or similar automation tools
  • Experience with SonarQube or similar code quality tools
  • Experience with dependency scanning, vulnerability scanning, or software supply chain tools
  • Experience with artifact repositories such as Nexus, Artifactory, or similar tools
  • Experience with Docker, containers, or RHEL 8/9 environments
  • Experience supporting Agile or DevOps software teams
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, or metrics for pipeline and tool status
  • Experience working on DoD, Navy, or other government software programs
  • CompTIA Security+, Linux certification, or similar certification is a plus, Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.
